Garcia tabbed No. 1 in Hoosier State

Memphis commitment Angel Garcia of East Chicago (Ind.) Central High School has been tabbed as the top player in Indiana, according to Rick Bolus' High Potential Recruiting Service.

Bolus has Garcia, who led his team to the Class 4-A state title last season, ranked in the top spot ahead of Washington (Ind.) center Tyler Zeller. The 6-foot-10 Zeller is ranked as the state's top player by Rivals.com and Scout.com.

Zeller is still trying to decide on a school and has narrowed his list to Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame and North Carolina. The 6-11 Garcia (photo) averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds last season, while Zeller averaged 18 points and 10 boards.

Ohio State commitment Walter Offut of Indianapolis Warren Central is No. 3, followed by Marion's Julius Mays, Evansville Memorial's Kyle Kuric, Pike's Cordell Passley, Evansville Reitz's Daimion Garrett, Madison's Logan Jones, Brownsburg's Julian Mavunga and Kokomo Northwestern's Zavier Sanders. Kuric is considering Louisville and Saint Louis, while Jones has committed to Valparaiso.

Indianapolis Howe's Larry Stone is No. 11, while New Albany's Braydon Hobbs rounds out the top 12. Michigan City's Jarrod Jones is the top sleeper.

Among the notable players listed in the second 12: Seymour's Cameron Mousa and Indianapolis Warren Central's Joshua Jones, who has committed to Eastern Kentucky.

Bolus also ranks the top underclassmen for the state of Indiana.

Fort Wayne Luers sophomore forward DeShaun Thomas is listed as the top underclassmen in the state, followed by Indianapolis Lawrence North junior Stephan VanTreese. Thomas has reportedly committed to Ohio State, while VanTreese is considering Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana among a host of other schools for his college choice.

The No. 3 underclassman listed is Crawfordsville's D.J. Byrd, who is considering Indiana and Purdue among others. Next on the list is Bloomington North's Ray McCallum Jr., the son of Indiana men's basketball assistant coach Ray McCallum.

Gary West junior DeShawn Clay is next on the list, followed by Indianapolis Lawrence North sophomore Dominique Ferguson. The top sleeper is Indianapolis Cathedral junior Kelsey Barlow. Among the second six top underclassmen is Batesville junior Colt Ryan.

Tipton junior Derek Elston has committed to Indiana and is listed among the "next best grouping of Division I underclassmen."
