JUCO forward Josh Harrellson appears to be close to gaining his release from Western Illinois. Harrellson averaged almost 15 points per game and eight rebounds. Harrellson will be a sophomore at whatever college he chooses to attend next season. The 6-foot-9 banger would be a welcomed addition to the Wildcat roster.

From the IU site...has been given his partial release from his LOI to Western Illinois because he was a full qualifier and has a list of eight schools he is looking at: Kentucky, Purdue, Missouri, St. Louis, Iowa, Iowa State and Ohio State.

I saw this the other day...Didn't know he had received an offer tho...

Indiana is in on him pretty hard from what I heard...one to keep an eye on if KK does in fact leave...

edit still not sure on the offer...in the article with Indiana his coach mentions that he thinks he has offers from all of his favorites...But it didn't sound to confident...I will see if I can find out anymore on this one...

I don't see this one happening.....he already has 4 of his 5 official visits planned and maybe we will get the last visit....but doubtful......this must be a very recent offer within the past weekend. Distance sounds like a factor here.

Interest In JUCO Could Mean Bye-Bye To KK........Interview with Harrellson's coach. Matta had a lengthy discussion with Coach Harrington and formally offered this week. Coach Harrington indicated that Matta and staff would be visiting for a presentation next week and Harrellson is "considering" the Buckeyes. Harrellson averaged 14.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game at the JUCO level.

I guess in addition to Dumes that there is some question as to whether Harrellson has been "officially offered" since the director of basketball operations has said that there have been no offers made this Spring to any 2008 recruits. I guess I don't understand why Matta is going to go and see this player if no offer has been extended.

Harrellson says he will visit Kentucky and St. Louis, is not sure about a visit to Ohio State at this point and is working on a visit to Indiana. Harrellson will be visiting Kentucky this weekend and indicates he may make a decision after four visits.

Harrellson is interested in Ohio State and has spoken to Coach Groce about visiting and the possible departure of Koufos and the idea he could fill that spot. Harrellson has scheduled visits to Kentucky and St. Louis. Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Ohio State are in consideration for the remaining three visits.

Not to hijack this thread, but in terms of big men, Vincennes, where Dumes is from has a 6'9' prospect as well getting some love from some solid programs...I have wondered if we might take a look at him...

Not to take anything away from Harrellson, I am sure he is a fine player...but I am always cautious this time of year when a ton of programs are looking for prospects due to early departures or transfers and a kid like Harrellson pops up on the radar.......

I agree, especially since he was slated to play at western Illinois until they had a coaching change...
