I have heard rumblings that he should be the #1 RB in OH in 08, maybe even 07 although that competition is a little stiff these days.

Well, he's a big guy, bigger than Darius Ashley whom I believe may be a stud but is only in the 5'8" range. Not that fast though, but we can work on his speed.

Another great article by Bill Greene...Brandon put up a 4.62 40 and 4.4 shuttle at the Akron one day camp (great numbers considering he is 6-1 215). He has a 3.3 GPA and sees himself on the defensive side of the ball in college.

I like the idea of Beachum coming in at LB for us next year, if we get Darius Ashley. With Devoe Torrence at LB to go with Beachum, we would be set. Still very early but you would have to think Beachum gets an offer.

I don't think he is going to have the speed to be a rb in college, especially with Wells ahead of him on the depth chart as the big back. He is just plain and simply going to outgrow the RB postion.

He has a defensive attitude to go along with his lb body.

And from all reports that I have heard, he is a buckeye fan, and if and when we offer next year, he should be a buck.

As for lb's in Ohio next year, don't forget about Zordich, he might be the best of all and that is saying alot with Torrence and Beachum. Bangup year in Ohio next year.

Quit saying he's too "slow" to play runningback in college. He's a great highschool runningback, and I have no doubt that he could make a transition and be a good college runningback. He's simply better suited to be a linebacker.

If 4.6 is NOT to slow for a power runningback. Besides, speed is a little bit overrated for runningbacks. The most important qualities are tackle breaking, elusiveness, and burst. If anybody doubts this, just look at the amount of NFL runningbacks who don't test well. Reuben Droughns, Deuce Staley, Rudii Johnson, Tiki Barber, Emmitt Smith, Edgerrin James, Terrell Davis etc. etc. etc. They may not have top track speed, but they have good burst, vision, and break tackles more often than not.


With that said, I think Beachum has more upside as a linebacker than a runningback. He looks like he'll turn out to be a really good Mike, but I would guess he could play anywhere really.

Let's watch the tone...BP affords everyone the right to express their opinion...cbf40 is merely offering up his. I tend to agree that he is better suited at LB becuase A) he says he wants to play defense at the next level B) he has a combination of size and speed better suited for LB rather than RB and C) his defensive instincts seem to be ahead of the curve at this point..

Like you said he is a good high school running back, but his skills transistion much better to a lb IMO. I think when his body starts growing he is going to get up 245 and will be a much better, once again IMO.
