Part 8 of Bill Greene's Making of the Brew Crew...DeVoe talks about the process and what went into his decision. Talks about "the agreement" as far as his project position is concerned and his relationship with the other commits/recruits.
The best recruiting feature done in years...Bill Greene deserves a raise for his work on this series.

Devoe and Massillon had a rough night against St. Iggy
Quote:
Compounding the problem was the injury status of DeVoe Torrence, who rushed for 283 yards against Mentor. Torrence did not start the game because of his undisclosed injury, and like the rest of his teammates, was never able to get into any kind of rhythm running the ball. He finished with just one yard on 13 carries.
?DeVoe was banged up,? Stacy said. ?We weren?t even sure he was going to play tonight. He was touch-and-go, and we kept it under wraps because we didn?t want them to game-plan it.?

Devoe is really having a tough year, outside of the huge game against Mentor.

That coach is gonna have that kid coming to OSU on crutches... with that terrible Oline at Massilon and giving him the ball 40 times a game or giving it to him even when he's banged up...

that o-line is suppose to have a few great young ones but, those experts might need some help doing their home work. I bet that coach will be fired at the end of the season.

at the high school level, shouldn't an elite RB... be able to put up good #s even with a crappy line? I guess last year, having another offensive threat like Devon helped. Devoe's stats were sick last year.
was beanie's line good his senior year?, if I remember right the team wasn't very good.

Beanie's line wasn't good, but he also looked poor against good defenses(Hoban in particular. Something like 100 yards on 33 carries).
Considering the competition that Massilon is going against(basically, a lot better than what Wells ever went against), a crappy line will definitely stymie an elite back. If you're getting hit in the backfield on every carry, there's very little you'll be able to do against a defense that just knows how to wrap up.
I'm not too worried. I had a feeling after the transfer that both parties probably wouldn't be happy after the season, not with the ridiculous expectations being placed on both the school and Torrence.

your right about massillon having a tougher schedule but, garfields line wasn't that bad. 2 of them made regional and all summit county lists but, they always got out numbered at the line. The QB was ok but, they had no wr's to help him , so it was Wells job and I saw most of the games and he always got hit right when he got the football. I would get so [censored]ed off because, I knew he had to much talent. Thats why he runs like a maniac. He wants to punish others before, they get him.
