5/9 Irish Eyes alert...Long has not been in contact with ND. Will likely focus on either football or baseball in college and lists interest in Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Virginia, Notre Dame and USC. |

Can't blame him. Smart play is to follow baseball.
Longer careers, more money, less injury risk and less overall wear and tear on your body. Howie Longs kids are smart, go figure. |

Not much you can say here but good luck and hopefully he an follow his dream of playing in the MLB, rather than the NFL, which is apparently where his passion lies. Good luck Kyle! I guess it is on to Jenkins or Shaw now.

He still can be drafted. Just if he doesn't go as high as he wants, he can go play at FSU for free.

Absolutely agree.

Would he make more money being taken in the middle rounds in the MLB or more money as a first round LT? Just curious because I don't watch MLB salaries very closely.

The head coaches at Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Virginia and Virginia Tech not only respectively offered Long a football scholarship, they also visited him in person at St. Anne?s-Belfield in the last few months. While appreciated and certainly deserved, the attention was not enough to sway the rising senior from verbally committing to the Florida State baseball program. ?Kyle verbally committed to Florida State while he was on an unofficial visit this weekend,? said St. Anne?s baseball coach Allan Swanson, who indicated Long gave his verbal late Sunday. ?He was blown away by the visit. He just had a spectacular time.? Cont... |
