I think the writing was on the wall for this one...we never really heard anything towards Floyd seriously considering us and it seems we are after Fuller and Thomas really hard right now, with Scott seemingly in the fold. Plus, the Brew Crew never mentioned him as a top target...this is likely because we knew he wasn't coming here rather than talent. ND will get a good one...Floyd is the 2nd best WR in the country next to A.J. Greene imo.

Cretin-Derham Hall receiver Michael Floyd said that of the seven schools he's still considering, Notre Dame and Ohio State have emerged from the pack and that he's taking a wait-and-see approach with the Gophers.
Floyd, one of the nation's top receivers, said recently that he narrowed his list to Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. But it appears he's moving closer to a decision.

Notre Dame has long been rumored as Floyd's top choice, but he denied rumors that he's already given the Irish a silent verbal. He is hoping to take an official visit when Notre Dame plays host to USC on Oct. 20.

"I really like their coaches," he said. "They're real cool guys. They're real, not fake toward you. Some coaches [in recruiting] try to be something they're not."

Floyd said he also liked what he saw on his unofficial visit to Ohio State last month. He reiterated that he still is considering Minnesota but wants to see how the Gophers do in coach Tim Brewster's first season.

Floyd said he might follow the advice of his advisers and stop giving interviews on recruiting once his season starts.

"I want the focus to be on the team and us having a good season," he said.

Crabtree and Farrell will be out of the prediction business soon...I guarantee neither of them bats .500. We are in the driver's seat for Mobley and ND is still the team to beat for Floyd.

How does Floyd compare to other WR's that have been in college lately? Is he similar in style to anyone recently?

Here is a film review I did earlier:

My take: Cretin-Durham uses Mike in a number of ways on offense. He is a WR, a RB and an H-back. Runs very well for a guy who is his size. Competes for balls in the air very well. Built very similarly to Robiskie. Most of the clips are of Michael running a straight go route, running a slip screen or taking a pitch, so it is tough to see what kind of a route runner he is. Does a good job in space of working back to the ball and is dangerous in the open field...has gret vision and does not slow down making cuts. Tough to bring down...runs very hard. Doesn't have top-end speed, but has plenty. Film reminds me a bit of Devon Lyons HS film.

Adding to that, Mike probably has as much natural athletic ability as any WR in this class (standout basketball player as well). There are certinaly faster WRs, but none of the faster ones have his size and hands. He is probably the most complete WR in the country, with maybe the exception of Julio Jones. He can take an underneath route to the house and he can sit down in a zone and make the tough catches over the middle. His HS uses him all over the place, doing some of everything.

Here is Scout's generic evaluation:

Floyd is usuaully a mismatch against smaller corners. He is very explosive off the snap and is physical enough to beat a jam. He has outstanding ball skills and is always a threat downfield. Floyd is deceptively quick for his size.

Thanks a lot for the info. Wad. I appreciate your efforts. Hope he comes to OSU but I don't know how many WR's we take in this class especially since we are loading up on tightends and Stoneburner(sp?) is like a hybrid TE/WR. Actually now that I think of it. Won't we be hurting for some WR's after next year?
