Top Linebacker Prospect Visits Clemson
By Phil Kornblut
LB Christian Wilson (6-3 235) of McKees Rocks, PA visited Clemson Friday along with his parents and brother. "I liked it," Wilson said. "I didn't know what Clemson was about, and I liked it. I liked the stadium and the tradition at the school. They run a 4-3 defense and I'd have a good chance to play there." Wilson met with Tiger head coach Tommy Bowden Friday. "He was telling me about the things at Clemson different from other schools," he said. Wilson will visit Virginia Tech Saturday on his way back to Pennsylvania. He has also visited Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Virginia, Wake Forest, North Carolina, NC State, Michigan State and Pittsburgh. All of those schools have offered along with Florida State, Florida, Arkansas and Penn State. Wilson said he does not have a favorites list yet. "Every school I've been to I've liked," he said. 'I'll try to narrow it down pretty soon. I think Clemson will make the cut." Wilson had 79 tackles and 2 interceptions as an outside linebacker last season.

Nothing major...Christian is likely visiting for the spring game and likes tOSU's depth chart.

That's interesting that he noted he likes OSU's depth chart, given that we are pretty stacked at linebacker. Does this mean that we're recruiting him as a speed defensive end (like a LEO) or possibly a MLB, where we're thinner? He seems to have the size for both positions and I think he may outgrow the FB position. Does anyone in the know have a feel for what OSU is recruiting him as?

He will be either an ILB or a DE imo. May be a step slow for a ILB and I think he ends up at DE...FB isn't out of the question as well. I am wondering how hard we are pursuing him with us being in such good shape with Zordich and Hale, 2 top notch potential ILB prospects...my guess is DE.

Kid seemed a little confused about OSU... Said he "thinks" OSU wants him on offense... and that we're graduating a lot of players so he can step in early...

Disagree about where he winds up playing. I think he's either going to play FB or OLB. He's not a step slow by any stretch of the imagination. This kid is a heck of an athlete. He's just very raw and he's oft injured. This kid is a better athlete than Zordich or Hale, just don't know if he's the kind of pure football player that Hale or Zordich appear to be.
Hale is the prize a LB in PA. Hell, he might be the prize at LB'er in the entire nation. Hale is the best looking ILB prospect that I've seen thus far. Kid just explodes into ball-carriers, he diagnoses plays well, and his reaction time is incredible. He just reads and reacts instantly, so while he might not be a "freak" athlete who can run a 4.4 or 4.5 at 240 pounds he plays like one out on the field.

Wilson didn't look very athletic to me at all on film...and I wonder why all these schools would be offering a fullback. His first calling has to be on defense and I just don't think it's at OLB.
