I would not mind seeing Worthy here at all. I am going to go ahead and assume he is a backup plan right now to Goebel. I don't necessarily think we need 2 DT, but it wouldn't hurt. I would take anybody who wants to jump on board here on the DL. If Heyward is moved to DE (as has been speculated) then 2 would be necessary here, but I have not heard solid stuff regarding that yet. Goebel and one of Worthy, Mobley, B.Thompson, J.Thompson or Jones (from the guys on the scene now) would be a great haul here at the DT position.

Worthy is a very good player that would be worth taking a shot on down the line if a couple spots open up...which is exactly what this situation appears to be (from articles and some coaches around the area that I've talked to). He just needs a solid senior film really because I think he is a work in progress and could really improve.

HUBER HEIGHTS ? Wayne High School sack master Jerel Worthy has taken himself off the market, verbally committing to Michigan State University.
The 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle chose the Spartans over Nebraska, North Carolina State, West Virginia and Cincinnati.


"They lead the nation in sacks and Coach (Mark) Dantonio has transformed the defense up there," Worthy said. "It seemed like a good fit for me. Former teammate Javon Ringer is a key player there and that also drew me in. Javon was like a mentor to me when I was at C-J (Chaminade-Julienne)."
Worthy, who played his freshman and sophomore years at C-J and his junior and this his senior year at Wayne, leads the Warriors' run-stuffing defense with 10 sacks.
"Jerel has great explosion off the ball and the ability to get to the quarterback," Wayne coach Jay Minton said. "He has those instincts you just don't coach."
