4/23 By BK... Brendan was tempted to commit this weekend but didn't. He enjoyed everything about his first trip to tOSU. Brendan says his current top teams would be tOSU, USC, Florida, ND, and Boston College. He has decided that he will announce on his birthday, Oct. 12th on ESPN. |

With the limited number of schollies this year, I think we only take 2 LBs. My preference would be Hale and Beal, but JT might be loyal to Sweat. So I don't know how this is going to play out this year.

I think we would take all three of Beal, Hale and Sweat, because there's a definite possibility that either Hale or Beal end up putting their hand in the dirt.
I still wouldn't feel that great about our chances though, simply because we don't have much of a history with elite NJ prospects unlike a USC or Notre Dame. You also have the legacy effect with BC. I do like the fact that he plans on committing relatively early in the recruiting process. Get him here for an official and let Adams and Stoneburner try and win him over. |

True that...he loves every visit he goes on. Just nice to see we are in the mix for sure now. But I think we take 3 LB's if we can get 3 of Hale, Sweat, Zordich, and Beal. Sweat has one foot in the door, we are in GREAT shape for Zordich, and still lead for Hale slightly. Now Beal is very interested...I think we end up with 3. Not to mention that Beal or Hale could end up at DE or LEO, and we also could send an offer to Beachum if we miss on a couple.

I would love to be wrong on this...but like many have said before i jsut don't see us getting a big time recruit out of NJ...obviously jenkins is the exception to that but he wasnt as highly regarded either...that area just seems to be USC/ND territory with rutgers making a strong push now...but then again stranger things have happened

The reason for the change, I think, is demographics. Back then, New Jersey was a logical place to recruit because it was relatively close and had decent talent. Now, far more talent is concentrated in Florida and Georgia than in New Jersey, so even though the distance is greater, Ohio State expends much more effort in those states (the 2007 roster will have six players from Florida and five from Georgia, with only one from New Jersey). |

I'm with korchiki on this one. We struggle in the Jersey/DC/Maryland area, we usually never land those prospects that fall in love with every school they go to (like Barksdale, for instance), and we are STACKED at LB. I don't think we'll take more than two, and we're looking really good for Sweat, Zordich, and Hale. I'd love to land Beal, but I don't see stars aligning for tOSU.
In other words, I'm not getting my hopes up for Beal, despite the good time he had over the weekend. |

4/30 From GatorBait...update on Florida recruiting success as of late. According to the article, "by all accounts" Beal has USC and UF as his leaders. |
