Although their comment on Rowell was dumb (Warrensville Hts. and Glenville count as "several" high schools played at?), I do like the fact that Whitner seems to be getting the attention he deserves.
Dawawn is Rowell's equal on the field and tested exceptionally well in San Antonio (sub-5 40 and shuttle). What he doesn't have is the great 1-on-1 performance that Rowell has. However, he doesn't have the academic problems Rowell has, either. |

That's the updated midwest 100. It's actually pretty good. I think Mobley is too low, but other than that nothing really stood out as odd(unlike say having Beachum among the top 5 running backs in the nation). |

The disparity on Adams between Rivals and Scout is plain stupifying. Scout has him as the best player in the entire midwest while Rivals has him as only the 8th best in the state of Ohio.

How many of these Rivals and Scouts were actual high level college players, or even college players at all? I can't think of any. I don't know why so many people put so much stock into what they say. Most of them were nerds living in their mother's basements for years doing this stuff until it was discovered that there was an actual market for it.

Furthermore, the people at Rivals completely contradict themselves - Mike Farrell recently indicated on Rivals Radio on Sirius that Southern schools such as FSU, Miami, and Tennessee have started and will start recruiting the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania hardcore because they want to get tough, hard-nosed blue chip linemen - if that's the case, then Farrell must wholeheartedly disagree with his cohort Bobby "don't call me Robert" Burton. |

6/21 Update East rankings...of note: #1 Terrelle Pryor #3 Shayne Hale #6 Josh Jenkins #7 Brendan Beal #9 Kenny Tate #10 Andrew Sweat #13 Jonathan Baldwin #24 Mike Yancich #29 Lamar Thomas #33 Kyle Long #34 Christian Wilson (finally ranked somewhere closer to where I think he should be) #37 Reggie Ellis (too low, IMO) #65 Jack Crawford #78 DeAndre Preaster Also: Interesting to compare where the PA prospects are ranked compared to the PGH report...here's both top 15s: Scout #1 Pryor #2 Hale #3 Nix #4 Sweat #5 Baldwin #6 Burns #7 Alexander #8 Yancich #9 Graham #10 Holley #11 Carraway #12 Wilson #13 Stankiewitch #14 Wedderburn #15 Saddler PGH #1 Pryor #2 Hale #3 Sweat #4 Baldwin #5 Nix #6 Alexander #7 Holley #8 Graham #9 Burns #10 Wilson #11 Yancich #12 Moody #13 Ramsey #14 Wedderburn #15 Robinson The fact that these rankings are so similar furthers my opinion that Scouts ranking have far greater value this year than do Rivals. The only kid Scout and PGH really seem to just flat out disagree about is Nick Moody. PGH has him at #12 whereas Scout has him much further down the list (#91 in all of the East). I'm sure cheetah and EastSideScout will have much more to say about these rankings than I do. |

I think Rivals actually had Moody No. 5 in PA so Scout clearly dislikes him for some reason. But the kid did get offers from Florida State and Penn State. Scout's PA ratings are always a bit biased because Lichtenfels is a Pitt fan. For instance, a kid named Manny Williams was in no top 50's and was only offered by a few MAC schools. After Pitt offered and got a commit, he skyrocketed up their charts. The PSU fans are already all over Lictenfels for being a shil and saying that no kid who has mostly MAC schools should be above Moody and Posluszny. But other than falling in love with some Pitt kids, they do a better job, because usually Mike Farrell is out to lunch. Generally speaking, Scout falls in love with players and gets tunnel vision with them while Rivals rates them basically by who offers them.
