I'm sure that there are a handful of prospects who are more polished than Adams right now, but putting him at #18 is overkill. Putting him there based on a few minutes of film is just as ridiculous as having him as a preseason AA based on reputation.
I usually surf the sites that has OSU recruits ranked higher and many other people are the same way. Scout better capitalize on this.

I agree with the southern bias thing on rivals. Last year, Hemingway was a 4 star and ranked number 15 on espns top 150 which might not be accurate since they suck for recruiting. He had offers from Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio St and Miami just to name a few. After he committed he dropped to a 3 star. The rivals people don't like midwest kids or kids from the south who go to the midwest. 5 stars or not Adams and Hemingway will be good in the future. I think both Braylon Edwards and AJ Hawk were both 2 star recruits and look how they turned out.

this made it's way to the free board, so it's no longer premium content. but, apparently a big stink was made over the mike adams situation on the rivals main board, and not just by osu fans. bobby burton came out and said while others involved wanted him on the list, he personally vetoed the suggestion and trumped wallace and crabtree.
he then locked and closed all threads in which adams' name was brought up thereafter.

I thought Jeremy Crabtree & Mike Farrell were big shots at Rivals. They both had Mike Adams as a top 5 OLineman in the nation. Apparently Burton & Shurbertt (sp?) believe Adams is "not much of a football player right now."

The guys on Rivals always rip on other sites if they don't have a certain player on their list that everyone else has on it (usually ESPN's rankings). But the way it looks, every ranking I can find has Adams as at least a top 50 player and/or top 5 OLineman in the nation. Not only is he not top 50, but not even top 100 on Rivals? There has to be more to it than just not thinking Adams is that good. Why put him on the Junior AA list or run an AMP video saying he is a top 5 OLineman? I know the rankings me very little, but it just feels like they flat-out lied about some things. Rivals asked me I am canceled when I called yesterday, I just responded with Bobby Burton. Just made me feel better.
The scout.com guys already assured OSU fans they will love the rankings of Adams & Stoneburner when their top 100 list comes out this coming week.

The guys at Rivals are certainly entitled to their opinion, and I don't see anything wrong with it. What I do see a problem with is the glaring inconsistency of it all.
Has anybody asked Burton what criteria were used to place Adams on the Junior AA list, then supposedly run this video piece touting him as a top-5 lineman, then not place him in the top 20 linemen, all in a 2-month span? That is where the problem lies, in my opinon.

5-star: Mike Adams Terrelle Pryor Shayne Hale 4-star: Brandon Moore Etienne Sabino Andrew Sweat Devier Posey Steve Filer Mike Brewster Josh Jenkins Garrett Goebel Mike Floyd Devoe Torrence JB Shugarts Jake Stoneburner Blaine Gabbert Justin Thompson, Cissoko, Rudolph and Major are all 5-stars as well...

Looks like scout gave some respect to Ohio. Mike Adams the #2 OT & 10th player nationally. Kyle Rudolph #2 TE & 25th nationally. Devoe Torrence #6 RB & 64th nationally. Jake Stoneburner #12 WR & 68th nationally. Devier Posey #16 WR & 85th nationally. Brandon Moore #7 TE & 99th nationally.
