We took Mario, you all took Taurian.
![]() Fred is ours! Stay away. I think you guys will eventually cool off of Fred if you haven't already. You already got Posey and Stoney, and there is a very good chance that you all might get a verbal from DJ Woods if he earns an offer at the OSU camp. |

No, Michigan St is very much in it for Smith.

6/19 By Crabtree...still has a top 3 of Michigan, MSU and OSU. May come to OSU's camp. Article clearly states that OSU has not "officially" offered... |

watch those clips of him from the PSU NIKE camp if you can. Only about 4-5 clips, but very good looking stuff.
Smith reminds me of a taller, faster, quicker, and bigger Jason Avant. |

Nice one.
Seriously, Smith reminds me of Avant in his route running, his suddeness, and with his running style (kind of an upright runner). Smith happens to be 6'2 instead of Avant's 6'0, and he's already 206 pounds whereas Avant wasn't that big until he was a SR in college. Smith is also noticeably faster. As far as quickness goes, I think they are pretty close there, maybe Smith is a tad bit quicker. His top end speed however is probably much better. Fred is probably in the low 4.5's all day. Avant ran in the 4.7's at his Pro Day. I think Avant had advantages in two areas. One area that Avant has him beat are hands- not saying that Fred's are bad because they are not, it's just that Avant had hands of glue. The other is leaping ability. Avant had a 39" VJ and could go up and get the ball. Fred hasn't really showed yet that he can be a high-flyer. He really hasn't had to yet because in high school he's usually wide open and at all of these camps he's been going to he's been beating the DB's so badly. |

FWIW:
Listening to Bucknuts radio show yesterday and Duane Long said he recently talked to Fred and Duane believes if we offer we go to the top of the list...or atleast even with UM (paraphrased, of course). |

6/21 More UM love...is not coming to OSU this weekend but is visiting MSU with his parents. I am content to let this one go...we have not offered as of yet and already have Posey/Stoney on board (Scott goes to defense, IMO) and are looking at several other WRs that have been offered including Floyd, Tate, Jarboe, Fuller and Wilks. |
