I think we want him as a WR/Slot-back/returner kinda guy. Unless he can keep his speed and add weight, which I doubt, there's no way this kid is playing RB in the Big10 whether it's in pee and blue or scarlet & grey.

If the 190 lbs is accurate, he is 5 lbs lighter than Pittman was at the combine (and an inch taller), and he is not yet a senior in high school.

Someone might need to remind JT of JT's recruiting philosphy...since he said Devoe Torrence would be the lone tailback recruit for Ohio State this recruiting year (according to Torrence, himself).

We only have 6 more schollies avail. We need to keep open for late committs. Sam could go almost anywhere when its all said and done. If he wants OSU he will have to be patient and let things pan out closer to signing day.

Hmmmm, not sure how the statement "he needs an offer" ranks on the "baffling arrogant" scale but it was surely not my intention to offend anyone.
It also was not intended to suggest that I should veto powers over Jim Tressel and have the final say on who gets offers from Ohio State. Let me rephrase my previous comment and "unbaffle" you:
It is my personal opinion that Sam Mcguffie should recieve an offer from tOSU if there is one available.
His stats and highlight reel speak for themself. He can run the ball, play the slot, and be a nightmare for opposing defenses. A lot like Reggie Bush or Teddy Ginn. That being said, I'm sure if we don't offer him there will be a good reason.

His stats and highlight reel might speak for themselves, but they certainly don't tell the whole story.

In high school, yes. In college, yet to be determined.

Not really fair to compare a high school kid to two of the greatest playmakers at the college level over the past decade or two.

I totally agree... But the possibility is there and that is what recruiting is all about. There is a reason why Michigan, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Florida State, and Notre Dame have all offered him or expressed interest.
Success on the high school level does not automatically ensure the same in college but 3000+ yards on the ground with 44 TD's in the state of Texas as a junior is an indicator that that there are good things to come.
I respect your opinion and agree that he will need to prove himself wherever he goes. It's all specualtion at this point but I think Sam has a lot of upside that you only see in a handful of players each year. He appears to be well spoken, has a good GPA, and seems to have legitimate interest in Ohio State.
Besides... Tress is a man of his word and may not be able to offer another back based on how D. Torrence was recruited. It may depend on whether Sam is open to a position change.

I don't think he was comparing Sam to buckeye ginn and trojan bush - I think he is comparing him to high school ginn and bush. I mean c'mon let's give Sam his due, IMO his tape more than holds its own with Ginn's and Bush's HS tapes.
