Darius Reeves didn't turn cartwheels or take a bow after breaking Gahanna's career rushing record Friday during a 58-0 rout of Westland. Those who know the 6-foot-1, 176-pound senior wouldn't be the least bit surprised by his mature reaction. Gahanna (5-1) boasts a rich football tradition, including a small army of outstanding running backs.
A third-year starter, Reeves passed Anton Robinson's mark of 3,197 yards on the way to a 208-yard, six-touchdown night. With 878 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, Reeves has 3,367 yards for his career.

For all of Reeves' running skills, most college recruiters envision him as a defensive back. Because of the large onus placed on Reeves in Gahanna's offense, Lanza uses him on defense only in specific packages.

Darius Reeves carried 25 times for 93 yards and scored three times from inside the 10 as visiting Gahanna (6-1, 2-0) beat Groveport (4-3, 0-2).

Blake Hickey had a 48-yard touchdown run for the Lions, who held Groveport to 96 yards rushing on 25 attempts.

Darius Reeves, RB, 6-1, 180, Columbus, OH-Gahanna Lincoln: Reeves rushed for nearly 4,000 yards and 55 touchdowns in three seasons at Gahanna Lincoln. As a senior, he rushed for more than 1,500 yards and had 30 TDs, earning first-team all-conference and first-team all-district honors. As a junior, he ran for 1,672 yards and 16 scores, earning first-team all-conference, first-team all-district and honorable mention all-state honors. As a sophomore, he was an honorable mention all-district selection, rushing for 800 yards and nine touchdowns.
