Because the tone you get from that sentence is that Cincy is so high on the college football "totem pole." In retrospect, in comparison to some of his most recent offers, that isn't the case anymore.
That is all I think he meant by that. |

I think X was alluding to the language used there. They said it like a UC offer stamps you as one of the hottest prospects in the country. UC is indeed a solid school, but the language used there seems more along the lines of something you'd see with a superpower like OSU, USC, or Florida offering.
You don't have to exactly catch fire as a prospect out of Cincinnati to receive an offer from UC. |

A better point is why did UC wait so long to offer?

Looking for some clarification here: Scout and Rivals have Greg being offered by Michigan State and not Michigan. I know how worthless those offer sheets can be but has he been offered by one or the other or both?

Greg also has a UM offer... that will be official on scout in the near future.

Scout $
10/31 Part 1 of GBW's Q&A with Greg...talks about his season and his style of play as well as how the recruiting process began for him and what schools he is hearing from/has offers from. Scout $ 10/31 Part 2 of GBW's Q&A with Greg...talks about how Michigan got involved and what factors will go into his decision as well as his timetable for a decision. |

The Louisville site goes fishing...
Rivals $ 11/1 Scruggs talks about friend and teammate Darius Ashley's decision to commit to Louisville and admits it could have some effect on his own decision. |

I was not impressed with Greg's attitude in the GBW interview. He just does not seem to care about football at all. He talks about how it would be cool that someone would pay for his college for him to "just go work out."
He seems like a really good kid and I can't say I blame him for trying to get college paid for. But it doesn't seem like his heart is in it at all. Just comparing his attitude to somebody like Goebel's and it doesn't seem to mesh. Just seems like no matter how strong your work ethic, you have to have some love of football to do all it takes to succeed at somewhere like OSU. |

I can see where you are coming from, but you have to take what he says and put it in perspective. He has not been playing football his whole life like someone like Goebel. At this point, he doesn't have too much invested in it. I can't blame the kid for still being in shock that he can take his pick of schools for free, especially since that was his chief concern prior to even playing football. I think that once he gets his feet under him, his passion will be evident. |

), however one thing this kid does not lack is passion. He showed more passion on the basketball court than anyone else in the program while I was there. Attitude isn't something to worry about with this kid. You have to realize, until very recently his goal was to graduate from his local public school. He's now at a relatively prestigious and selective high school, and is on his way to go to college for free.Last edited by OmahaBeef; 11-02-2007 at 10:45 AM. |
