Aundre's coach says his star RB will visit Arizona State and LSU with possible trips to Alabama and Ohio State. |

I don't know why, but his running style reminds me a lot of Antonio Pittman. Maybe it's just me, though.

I see a lot of similarities in his game to Pittman's. They seem to have the same kind of build, although Aundre is a little bit bigger, and are both able to run up the gut, or bounce it to the outside when his hole closes up. I wouldn't compare him to Heisman hopefuls Peterson and McFadden quite yet though.
Hmm, if Aundre makes it in, we could see potentially the SAME offense as we did a few years back in '05 when it was supposed to be OUR year: Troy Smith--------------Terrelle Pryor/Antonio Henton = the athlete at QB where defenses HAVE to respect his arm & his feet Antonio Pittman----------Brandon Saine/Dan Herron/Aundre Dean = a RB that can, basically, do it all; soft hands, power, speed Teddy Ginn--------------Ray Small/Lamaar Thomas/Devon Torrence = speedster on the outside; can get behind the secondary in a split second Anthony Gonzalez--------Brian Hartline/Dane S./Jake Stoneburner = deceptive quickness; great hands; knows his role Santonio Holmes---------Devier Posey/Taurian Washington = crazy good route runner; great hands; with plenty speed to burn Last edited by BGriffBuckeye; 12-12-2007 at 05:59 PM. |

Aundre in action
Greetings gents, hope you fellas don't mind a Texas Aggie in your midst. I cover Aundre's Katy Tigers and the rest of KISD for a living and thought you fellas would enjoy a few photos of him in action. Please excuse the watermark, but unfortunately I've found over the years that when you don't label stuff as your own on the internet, people tend to think it's theirs.
I can tell you all that Mr. Dean is putting off any visits until after Christmas as the Tigers are 14-0 and play in the state semifinals this weekend. If they win, they'll play for the state title next week. Should you somehow be able to get Fox Sports Southwest, you can watch that game next Saturday night at 7 p.m. Central. Anwyay, on to the photos. Hope you enjoy. And please do the world a favor and smack the living "stuff" out of two-loss LSU for the good of the world. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by MuckRaker; 12-13-2007 at 01:08 AM. |

didn't we have a walk-on from Katy a few years back....i think he was gonna wrestle at OSU, but was a very accomplished RB in High school.
In the end, i think he didn't end up coming here, or he transfered out or something? |

James Aston went to OSU as a wrestler and fullback. He was about 5-9, 215. He transferred home to Texas State after a year. He and Aundre played together, albeit it briefly, in the 2004 playoffs when he was a senior and Aundre a freshman.
Aundre broke James' career rushing record 3 weeks ago at the start of the playoffs. He broke 5,000 career rushing yards last week and has 2,101 for this season after rushing for 2,111 last year. |

As someone who grew up an Oiler fan, I believe the comparison one of you made earlier between Aundre and Mike Rozier is a fairly sound one, and not just because of the red uniforms and #30. I would also say his upright running style also reminds me of Eric Dickerson, although without the absolute blazing speed. But that connection is a local one also, Dickerson played his high school ball at Sealy, which is 30 miles west of Katy.
Aundre split time as a sophomore with another back who was a senior. He relied a lot on a spin move back then that was flashy, but left him open to get popped a lot. He has used it very rarely since. His junior year, he cultivated a stiff-arm move which you can see in one of the pictures above that is absolutely fearsome. He runs aggressively, when he knows he's about to get tackled on long runs from the side, he makes sure he's the one delivering the hit and driving the defender forward with him. He also really knows how to hold onto the ball. He's fumbled 3 times in roughly 285 carries this year, and one of those came when a defender hit him dead on the hand with his helmet and broke his hand (he missed one game). He's suffered a lingering groin injury the last month or so and last week sat out practice the whole week, then rushed for 184 yards and 3 TDs on 24 carries in the regional finals, which is essentially the elite 8 of the state playoffs here. He was a finalist for the greater Houston Touchdown Club Offensive Player of the Year Award, but it went to DeSean Hales, who if you haven't see the youtube video of his signature run this season, is worth a click. Also, for shameless self-promotion, my paper whips the heck outta the Houston Chronicle when it comes to covering Katy football - we're a twice-a-week, but you can read a lot more about Mr. Dean there then in the big daily rag.
