I'm going to put it in simpler terms...

Imagine the Troy game where TP threw for 4 touchdowns...except we don't punt the ball 5 times because we have Beanie moving the chains. Worst case scenario, we get some additional field goals. Best case scenario, Beanie is able to break off a big run for another TD and help set up another one. The longer drives keeps Troy's off the field, helps our defense rest, and they only get one score.

I don't think the game plan changes with Beanie in the game, the main thing that will change is the production from the RB position.

Nebraska made a living on power football/playaction packages while having power backs and athletic QBs on the field.

Pryor carrying out every fake in the I-formation will still freeze the backside every play.

This is more like...the defense will have to be ready for the sheer strength and vision of Beanie, the mobility and speed of Pryor....the way I see it working is you can't load up the box or Pryor can take it around the corner, and you can't spread it out to protect against the pass/bootleg because Beanie will run you over. And if either player gets out into the open, it's a huge gain.

Beanie always moved piles, but when defenses have to worry about TP taking off, there won't be whole piles to move. And then the play action - they have to press the line of scrimmage to stop Beanie and Pryor, so the receivers should be able to get open very easily. And the worst part is the safeties freeze on the play action, and then freeze again when they have to worry if TP is running!

I feel we are using the wrong WVU comparrison. Cuz Slaton and Beanie are different types of RBs. But if you think about it, Wells is a much more explosive Owen Schmidt as I always thought he was the true key in they backfield for WVU.

I can envision a shotgun backfield of Wells, Pryor and Saine. Saine in the Slaton role (not saying he is as explosive as Slaton, but best comparison on the team) Pryor goes to Wells up the middle first and then can pull it out and hit the edge with Saine as the pitchman.

do we have that level of line play that those teams had?
those team could hit the homerun ball. pound, pound, pound, pound, juglar shot, pound, pound, pound, can we deliver the ball down the field like that? reality is 130some yards passing is his best game yet...
those teams couldnt play from behind...
what happened when those teams ran into a good run defense team? (they got whacked)

Didn't realize we were getting that deep with it since the question was about how personnel would fit together with Beanie and Pryor on the field at the same time. Nobody suggested a switch to a Wishbone attack.

i think they are all relevant to this team, we dont have frazier or crouch back there...

Definitely not comparing this offense to those juggernauts of the early 90's JO. Simply gave an example of an athletic QB who was able to co-exist with a power RB.

maybe, the one that lost to fsu in the orange bowl?
he averaged something like 18 yards an attempt, with like a 50% completion %. The dude could huck the long ball. i think his best year was like 1500 yards passing, pedestrian by todays standards. he was good for an int every dozen or so completions... no doubt a heck of a ball player. is he still at baylor coaching/assitant ad? he played with l phillips and a green right? and that makes todd brook berringer-god i hope not (berringer died in a plane crash the week after the draft and he also played in and lost the orange bowl and the title game to the canes)

Actually I think it is great to have "respectful" fans from other schools post here. Too bad all the Texas guys stopped posting. I'd really like to see another home/away series with Texas. They have some really good fans and those were two great games.

Found an interesting article regarding Ohio State and the pistol offense. Beanie said he had some problems adjusting it, but I'm sure he should be fine in the end.

This formation works very well with a mobile QB. We have that. It doesn't take away from a RB's production. We have a very productive RB. This is, basically, the best way to utilize both TP and BW28 to their max potential.

We get to see how it works on Saturday.

Exactly the same thought I have had.

Now, since two fans came up with it without ever talking to each other, we'll see if the coaches thought of it too.
Then we'll see if the opposing coaches thought about it as well, and how to defend it.

Then we'll see that the team with the most points wins the game.
