Our D comes through when it needs to. Penn State will be a huge huge game, but at least we got them at home! TP is an absolute superstar and what a future we have, it's going to be fun to watch!

Now we beat Wisky, and I do know that peoples' opinions don't matter, but on ESPN and SI comments, now we get bashed for UW being "overrated". How ignorant of a comment is that?! It's conference play! Every conference beats up on each other every year! USC gets beat by Oregon St, Florida goes down to Ole Miss, Oklahoma goes down to Colorado last year. This is conference play, the teams know each other and.....alright, I'm done.

It's nice to come out with a "big game" win, a conference victory and a BCS Bowl talk has started again. If we can get Penn State to win out, and maybe see them jump a spot or two in the ranking, if we pull out a victory then there should not be any doubt about us being in a BCS Bowl. Now, if we win that BCS Bowl, that will set up for a NC contender spot next year and an even bigger game against USC. But, this season is first, LETS GO BUCKS!

Wisky has played us tough for several years now and I expected a very hard fought close game , I wasn't disappointed. For those of you who say we "survived" I say BS. We were favored and we went in there and did what we had to do to take the game.

After the first drive we were played to a standstill on both sides of the ball during the rest of the first half and the 3rd qtr.
Yes there were mistakes made by players on both sides, Pryor made mistakes and he will correct those as he learns.
Our lines stiil do not play as they should and IMO they will not go down in history as great lines. I don't know if that is chemistry or if they just need more experience.

But Wisky is a team that can make you look bad too.
As good as Beanie was (22 for 168) I was hoping for more as I still have Heisman hopes for him.

You have to admire the power running game of the Badgers. They make it work for sure.

Anyway we had the wherewithall to go into Badgertown and kick some Badger butt. they probably all have Buckeye nightmares for days to come .

Buckeyes' two-headed monster beats Wisconsin

October 5, 2008

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Ohio State looked much different under the lights with its new double-threat backfield.
Terrelle Pryor ran for an 11-yard touchdown with 1:08 left, and Chris "Beanie" Wells had 168 yards rushing and a score, lifting the 14th-ranked Buckeyes to a 20-17 victory against No. 18 Wisconsin on Saturday.
"Guys really don't know who to key on, me or Terrelle," Wells said. "I like that about our offense, having two guys out there who can really run the ball."
The last time the Buckeyes (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten) played a marquee game at night, they got pounded by Southern California last month. Wells didn't play in that game and Pryor, the talented freshman, wasn't the starter.
But Wells is feeling better and Pryor is getting comfortable at quarterback.
"All the hype, and all the people saying, 'You're great,' this is the time to show it," Pryor said.
The 19-year-old Pryor sure did, leading Ohio State on two fourth-quarter scoring drives and snapping a 16-game home winning streak for the Badgers (3-2, 0-2). He also helped his coach, Jim Tressel, even his record at 3-3 against Wisconsin.

OSU wins a battle of nerves, 20-17 over Badgers

by Doug Lesmerises Sunday October 05, 2008, 12:44 AM

Andy Manis/Associated Press
Terrelle Pryor struggled for much of the game, but his late touchdown run in the final minutes rallied Ohio State past Wisconsin.

MADISON, Wis. -- Ohio State needed a touchdown to win. Before a final drive at Wisconsin on Saturday night, when everything hadn't gone as freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor had planned, junior running back Beanie Wells gave Pryor a message.
"I told Terrelle, 'This is a man's world,'" Wells said. "And I mean, he's stepping into manhood right now, because it's going to be long drive, we're going to have to face some adversity, and we did that. I don't know what to say about this kid."
Eighty yards later, whether Pryor became a man or not, the freshman and his Buckeyes teammates left Camp Randall Stadium different than when they walked in.

BUCKEYES NOTEBOOK
Badgers' band banned
Raucous musical unit under indefinite suspension
By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

MADISON, Wis. - The sound of live music was missing from the fall evening get-together between Ohio State and Wisconsin, since the host team's marching band was serving time in the penalty box for bad behavior.

Wisconsin's marching band is under an indefinite suspension levied by its longtime director, amid allegations of alcohol abuse, incidents of hazing and sexual misconduct, and it was barred from appearing last night at Camp Randall Stadium.

Mike Leckrone, who has been Wisconsin's band director since 1969, announced Friday night he had met with the 300-member band and suspended the entire unit for the first time in his long career. "My feeling was I hit them between the eyes with a sledgehammer," Leckrone said.

COMING OF AGE
Pryor marches Buckeyes to victory

MADISON, Wis. ? Terrelle Pryor was supposed to make a rash of freshman mistakes on his first road trip in the Big Ten and turn the ball over at critical times.

He was supposed to wilt when he waded into the red sea of rabid Wisconsin fans at Camp Randall Stadium and then fail in this harshest of environments.

Instead, Pryor parted the Badgers' defense as he scored on an 11-yard touchdown run with just over a minute to play to complete the game-winning drive in Ohio State's 20-17 victory. After taking the Buckeyes nearly the length of the field in the closing moments, Pryor froze the Wisconsin defenders with an option run, before striding through them and into the end zone.

'With Terrelle, with every snap he gets, he learns from it. He was under duress tonight. They were coming after him ? but he's coming of age,' Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said about his young quarterback.

I don't think we did so badly containing their running game. Wisconsin came in averaging 220 a game on the ground and we held them to 179. We only gave up 147 in the air versus their average of 195.

We are now ranked 81st in total offense in the NCAA FBS and 105th in pass offense.

We're ranked 18th in total defense, 14th in pass defense and 32nd in run defense.

I think that its a bit unfair to criticize the defense so much. Wisconsin is a good team and the defense played well. As the playbook opens up and the offense gels, this will become a BCS bowl quality team--it isn't yet. We haven't won against a good team in a hostile venue at night for a while now. This will be a real confidence builder.

Great come from behind road win in the last 2 minutes of the game for the team (and Terrelle Pryor).

The game sure was a good example of "smash mouth football". Let's hope Boom and Dane made a fast recovery and/or are OK.

During the game anyone else notice the "really cool" badger pelt gloves that some Wisconsin fan was wearing?

Had some time for the whole thing to sink in now......

Our red zone offense really sucks. Coulda built a 14 or 21 point lead early in the game. After Beanie's run, we get good field position several times, especially after the fumble. We fail to capitalize there, and several times in the second half.

I realize it sounds like I am just complaining about a huge win on the road against Wiscy, but that's not it at all. If you take those same mistakes into a BCS game, NC, etc, you're gonna get smoked. Wiscy is no USC, Oklahoma, etc. Are we in the same league as those teams right now? No. I dont think we will be the way our current offense and defense runs. I dont see a problem with the players, I see a problem with the coaching. I could be way off, but the more I watch other teams play, I see so much more imagination from the other teams that we just do not have.

Not only that, but I'd be willing to bet many of those teams do not have the talent level the Bucks have. Overall, a good game and a good win but improvements still need to be made.

I think we could do so much more out of the shotgun set with Beanie, TP and Boom/Zoom back there. Our redzone offense has been less than stellar every game this season pretty much. I agree that we (could've would've should've) won that game by 14+ last night. The O potential is definately there but our D line needs to man up and get pressure on the QB. I sure do miss Gholston more than I thought I would.

I would love to see Pryor in 5 WR sets!!! I would love to see TWash, Robo, Posey, Hartline, and Small all at the same time. I think we will see this versus PSU. Purdue should have had at least 13-17 points against PSU.

Any predictions for OSU's new ranking this week? I'm gonna wager a guess at #11.

I definately think the defense took a step forward last night. They were getting after it. I know our d-line is a problem, but I didn't see lack of effort...thought that was a better effort by our D.
