As has been stated we don't seem to know what our offensive identity is right now.

Staff talks about simplifying the offense to allow TP to grow, yet we line up in the spread, I-formation, pistol and pro set. All of the different formations require different personel. I think today we saw the lack of continuety that can result from all of these changes on the fly. I have total confidence that the staff will figure out what gives us the best chance to win but with the season being more than half over I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little concerned.

Every team has a win like this in a season, Illinois in '06 anyone? Now we see where we go from here. I for one have faith.

Edit: Can't agree with Grad any stronger, OL had some serious issues today. Unfortunatley 3 of our most experienced linemen did not bring it today. Boone has really had an off year so far. He is making alot of noise off the field, I hope he can make some on it the rest of the season. We need him.

Third Down: Can we punt? Ok, I guess we'll pass when it's obvious.

The play calling is just pathetic for the majority of the time. There were some good calls that should have been TDs (Pryor not handing off to Wells on the read-option, Pryor not keeping it on the read-option, and Pryor throwing it behind Posey on the endzone slant). Pryor just needs to stop thinking and just play. I'm not overly worried about, but I just hope he keeps his head in the game and doesn't get too down on himself.

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Etienne Sabino scored the only touchdown of the game on a blocked punt, as the 12th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Purdue, 16-3, at Ohio Stadium.
Ohio State (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten) got a solid game from Chris Wells, who rushed for 94 yards on 22 carries. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor was 10-of-14 for 97 yards in the victory.
Purdue (2-4, 0-2) has lost 17 straight games against ranked opponents dating back to a victory over Iowa on November 8, 2003. The Boilermakers haven't won at Ohio Stadium since 1988.
Quarterback Curtis Painter finished 23-of-51 for 228 yards and one interception for the Boilermakers, while Kory Sheets had 20 carries for 67 yards in the loss.
The Buckeyes dominated the first half and went into the locker room ahead 13-0. Sabino opened the scoring with a 19-yard blocked punt return to make it 7-0 with 11:41 remaining in the opening quarter. Malcolm Jenkins blocked the punt, allowing Sabino to pick up the ball and race into the end zone.
Ryan Pretorius booted a 24-yard field goal with 57 seconds to go in the first quarter, while Aaron Pettrey capped an eight-play, nine-yard drive by drilling a 49-yard field goal to make it 13-0 with 4:54 until halftime.

Ohio State did not score an offensive touchdown but its special teams and defense provided just enough points and big plays to secure the victory.The halftime show by the Ohio State marching band was titled ?TV Land.? How appropriate the choice of set was because Purdue has not won in Ohio Stadium in 20 years and breaking that six-game losing streak proved once again to be a ?Mission Impossible.?Chris ?Beanie? Wells played a starring role on offense with 94 rushing yards, increasing his career total to 2,664 yards and into the school?s all-time Top 10. The defense was led by a Malcolm who was in the middle of everything: Malcolm Jenkins. The senior cornerback blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown and recorded an interception, four solo tackles and a pass break-up.Ohio State?s defense wasn?t out to make ?Friends? today, keeping the Boilermakers out of the end zone and limiting them to 298 yards of total offense, and in the end it created enough ?Cheers? from the crowd to help the team improve to 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Big Ten Conference.?It began with special teams,? COLUMBUS -- It was not always pretty, but Ohio State defeated Purdue, 16-3, on Saturday at Ohio Stadium. The 12th-ranked Buckeyes (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten) won their fourth in a row, but did it without scoring a touchdown on offense. Three field goals and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown supplied OSU's points.
The unranked Boilermakers (2-4, 0-2) lost their third straight. However, they held the OSU offense in check for the most part.
The Ohio State defense did its part as Purdue managed a long field goal for its only points.

The Buckeyes opened the scoring when senior defensive back Malcolm Jenkins broke in on Purdue punter Chris Summers and blocked his kick. OSU freshman Etienne Sabino caught the ball off one high bounce and ran untouched 20 yards for the touchdown just 3:19 into the game.

OK, so there was no springboard for the Ohio State offense, coming off that stirring drive to a winning touchdown at Wisconsin last week. At least the OSU defense showed up today, which is the main reason the Buckeyes walked away with a 16-3 Big Ten victory over Purdue. On a clear, still, warm afternoon, freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Chris "Beanie" Wells and the rest of the offense never found their stride and never found the end zone. Wells was held to 94 yards, his first sub-100 game in four starts this season.
The lone touchdown was provided by backup freshman linebacker Etienne Sabino on a 20-yard return of a punt blocked by cornerback Malcolm Jenkins early in the first quarter as the Buckeyes (6-1, 3-0) gained bowl eligibility.
Otherwise, the OSU points came on field goals of 24 and 22 yards by Ryan Pretorius and a 49-yarder by backup kicker Aaron Pettrey. Pryor and the offense struggled, especially in the red zone -- again.
Ohio State's lackluster win likely won't set well with OSU fans who were expecting a blowout against what, statistically, was the Big Ten's worst defense going into the game.. But today was one of those "upset Saturdays," with No.5 Texas beating No.1 Oklahoma by 10; Michigan losing to Toledo, the Wolverines' first loss ever to a Mid-American Conference team: and Minnesota -- winless in the Big Ten last year -- gaining bowl eligibility with a stunning win at Illinois.

I'll be the first to admit, I questioned how well TP and Beanie would work together. I just thought the spread offense, would not fit Beanie well at all. Against Wisconsin and Minny I thought Pryor and Beanie gelled very well.

Today, not so much. It just did not seem to work. Beanie taking hand-offs out of the shoutgun seemed to slow him down. Pryor didn't have much in terms on reads and when he kept it seemed to run into trouble. I think they'll correct this, but they definately seemed off today. I'm hoping it was juts a case of off timing due to missed practice.

MSU is not an easy game at all next week.

Absolutely no way we make it in ahead of a two loss team from a BCS conference, assuming we make it through the rest of the Big Ten undefeated. And that is a huge IF judging from today's game I would be VERY happy to see us beat scUM, win the Big Ten , and make it to a BCS bowl

Agreed. 16 points and no offensive TDs. With those stats, and a defense that has been exposed in big games and suspect in most others this year, we don't deserve a title shot.

This conversation keeps coming up and I have to keep asking myself if I'm watching the same team. I'm a Buckeye and I don't think we have a shot, imagine what non-Buckeyes think.

I really hate to say this, because I have been one of the most deluded, optimistic homers this year; but the fact that there is a discussion about the title game is beyond me at this point. The reason I think so starts with 'grad's observation:
