I like our chances

Michigan State is not Florida or USC by a long shot. They are winning a lot like we are winning, controlling turnovers, good defense, field position. Surprise, Dantonio is a bit of a Tressel protege.

My opinion? This is the Bucks' chance to step up and proactively win this game... to agressively make plays, and not just play defense/field position.

Let's come out throwing. Make MSU believe that we can and will throw if they load up the box. And pressure on TP? Let's roll him. If the line knows what direction he is going in they can keep the Dline off him.

We're not going to out-conservative Dantonio. Let's out-skill him and out-think him. Open up the playbook and let it all hang out. Trust the D if you F up!

Bucks, 34-20.

Finally, we move up a couple notches in the polls. Maybe to 9??

I may have just figured out Tressel ball. By play selection, score the fewest points possible to win, so that the team does not get a big head and works hard. Ideally be behind until late in the game and then send to OT. This strategy is simple yet highly effective.

How else could the 2002 team almost lose to Cincinatti?

Admittedly, things go a little out of control after trying to reign things in after way-too-fast starts against Florida, LSU, and USC. Tressel slammed on the brakes too hard in these games. However, by and large, Tressel Ball leads to lots of wins.

The Purdue game was kind of a nightmare, because tOSU defense outscored Purdue, so the offense really had to be reigned in to avoid any kind of over confidence problem.

And I think we all have to admit that in 2007, it was pure genius to realize that the Illinois game did not have to be won in order to go to the National Championship game. The game could be thrown in order to ensure there would be no let down against TSUN.

Illinois was kind of like a dramatic queen sacrifice in chess, leaving chess fans gasping, but forcing an inevitable checkmate.

Thinking through this some more, didn't the Columbus Dispatch report that the buckeyes went on a long bus ride to hear a swim coach say that the hardest thing to do in sports was to win when you were expected to win?

Problem solved! I have come to love and appreciate Tressel Ball. We are on track to win the big ten and beat USC in a rematch in the Rose Bowl.

Remember the lessons of history. It is much harder to win the Rose Bowl if you beat your opponent during the regular season.

We are on track. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

So if I'm to understand correctly Beanie and Boom Herron both got hurt/nicked up vs Purdue?

I see this game playing out a lot like the Wisc vs OSU game.

MSU is essentially a less talented but more spine having version of Wisconsin... and OSU is obviously still OSU.

Turnovers, the trenches, and FG kicking will be key as both teams play Tressel/Saban/Perles/Woody ball.

I've followed both teams very closely as OSU has long been my 2nd favorite team and I see this being a horrible match up for MSU.

Iowa's excellent DL (better DT's than OSU, worse DE's) and Cal's excellent LB's gave MSU fits, OSU is equivalent or better (LB's) in both these aspects.

I can't see MSU winning unless Pryor really has SEVERAL "freshman" moments and Hoyer brings his A game (something we haven't seen since the second to last game last season)

OSU's speed will be a huge shock after playing Northwestern, which is probably slower than half the MAC, to adjust to for MSU.

First team to 20 wins. Hell first team to 14 might win.

Beanie was still coping with the foot injury and also ailing with some sort of bug.

Herron was out against Purdue due to the concussion he received against Wisconsin.

I've heard nothing about Beanie getting nicked up against Purdue. However, Beanie "nicked up" still torched Wisky for 168 yds, so I wouldn't get too excited here.

You know...I don't think Michigan State is good enough to go to a BCS bowl game. Hince why I am not that scared. You look at teams like LSU, Florida, USC...and who knows how many times Michigan has done it lately, but they all have lost lately to teams that did not go to or will not be in a BCS bowl game. We haven't. It's been four years since we lost to a team that wasn't a BCS bowl team, and that assumes USC will be one. And Illinois is the only team that didn't win their BCS bowl game. We've only lost to some elite teams. Take it for what it's worth. We won't lose this game.

I'll try to contain my excitement for this matchup where my team mustered a whole 3 offensive points last year. My uncle's are OSU fans and they were saying something about Beanie getting hurt in the Purdue game but apparently it was the flu + the foot.

Yeah but OSU was outclassed in speed and/or spread out in all those games, that will not even be close to the case this Saturday. Also they just flat out played like [censored].

The playcalling sucked in that USC game in my opinion, and you guys would have beat them with Beanie and more power O plays. The power game of running right at them was working until 'getting cute', 'playing catch up', and 'horrid flags' crept into the game.

Hoyer just isn't that good. If it's up to him to beat us, it's not good for Sparty. Sparty is all about Ringer. He gets the ball more than any other back in the country, and he moves the chains and puts it in the endzone. If Beanie were as durable as Ringer, he'd be on pace for about 2,500 yards.
