why is everyone so [censored]ed off? i'm a bit confused. the guy blaming this on pryor needs to go back to the hole he came from. we moved the ball with a totally different offense. i'm happy about that. the running game wasn't working, but the "pick n pop" (for lack of better words) was awesome. pryor was back there making good decisions and finding the open man for five to ten yards per throw. we had a few drives that just stalled. i'm upset that beanie couldn't get anything going, but it was obvious that PSU said "we're shutting down the run, we dare you to throw on us". and throw we did. two passes go our way, and we win. pryor hits the first down line with both hands on the ball and who knows what happens. i know this though, he'll learn from this. the defense kicked ass, we just got beat. that's going to happen. in my eyes, we executed our game plan. one more thing, if pryor throws that ball to the back of the end zone its a touch down instead of a pick! i hate losses, but for some reason i can live with this one. go penn state.

This season's team is a disappointment considering our preseason expections, but that was apparent early on. I think that is an untimely point to make right now. That time is past, and the coaching staff has made many adjustments to deal with the problems

It was a disappointment while TB was quarterback, so to blame the disappointment of the season on starting a freshman QB is misplaced. TP made some mistakes tonight (some larger than others), but understand that we lost to the #3 team in the nation. He was pretty close to being part of the biggest win of our regular season.

Think back to Sunday of week 3, and I think you'd be surprised with either QB leading us in a win against the #3 team in the nation.

The defensive and offensive lines played their hearts out and were consistently good for an entire game for the first time tonight. The play calling was great. The intensity was there. We were as physical as a team could play. And the progress I saw in Pryor from the first half to the second was unbelievable. What was even better was that I could feel his pain when he threw the int.

I was damn proud of the buckeyes tonight. I don't care how many big games we have lost recently. I am not ashamed of anything that happened tonight.

The ball literally bounced their way. It's immensely disappointing to me that any of you would be complaining after a loss in which we did just about everything right. This is college football. There is no margin for error and a lot of the time it isn't the best team that wins but the team that was best that night. You need to find happiness in the journey and appreciate the team we have and what they gave us tonight.

Id like to congratulate any lions fans out there. That was a great game. It looks as though you guys are destined for great things this year. You have the support of your big ten brothers. Go bring the title back to the big ten.

Agree with most of your post except the part about the offensive line playing well tonight. Definitely not a stellar night for the O line.

I haven't read ONE post on here. I'm not going to. I just got back home. I'm sad. I'm shocked. I'm exhausted. My voice is gone. I was there with the defense giving 100% all the way. Hats off to the D-Line. I thought they played there best game of the year. And the rest of the defense played just as awesome as they always do. It's sad that one play defined the game. It was the saddest play i've experienced in a long while. When Penn State missed that field goal, I thought we had it. Pryor played his heart off. I don't knwo what is being said by him, but I will say this. That was a gutty performance. He was under pressure all dang game. He did everything he could, made great decisions, great passes, and was asked to go over 90 yards in less than a minute, and almost did it. The fumble...well, the kid doesn't turn the ball over much, and it was bad timing, but that's all i chalk it up too. He's a great kid. I'm glad he is the future of the Buckeyes. He played with heart. The atmosphere was electric. The stage was set. Penn State is the better football team.

But it was a hell of an exciting game. I love defensive games. And it wasn't bad offense. It was GREAT defense. Great play by the D-lines of both teams. That's the best our D-line has played all year. Hands down. Great job guys. But it comes in a loss...and that hurts a lot. I'm hurt. I'm sad. I wish we played Michigan tomorrow. I want to beat Michigan so bad!!!! 27 days until The Game! Go Bucks!!!

absolutely agree. If there is one thing to point out, it's the running game. But that's a function of us being inferior on the OL rather than a function of effort or execution. Everything else...you just can't ask for much more. Pryor completed 65 percent of his passes and average close to 10 yards a completion, AND avoided numerous would-be sacks. Let it go.

I posted twice tonight (which, thankfully for all of us on this board, is a lot for me), and this is what I meant to say.

During the long sustained drive in the 3rd our o line was playing so well we wouldn't stop calling runs. There were stretches here that I thought the O line played its best all year. I saw great pass protection early and then I saw them opening up some holes in the second.

Team rushing - 31 attempts, 61 yards, 2 YPC. Long = 9 yards.

Beanie only had 2.5 YPC. I know stats don't tell the whole story, but they tell a lot of it. We didn't have much blocking tonight. It was solid at times, never great, and bad the rest of the time IMO.

The Good News...

The Bright side (yes there is one)

1) We will still get a BCS game if we win out and USC wins out. It will either be a Rose Bowl (if PSU goes to the NC) or an at-large bid (thanks to the ACC, Big-Least, and PAC-1) not having any ranked runner-ups.)

2) If we give a win to JoePa and PSU every few years, he sticks around and it helps our PA recruiting.

The stats aren't going to be pretty. This was a defensive battle through and through. The play where Beanie and the line pushed their D back 5 yards after he should have gone down keeps replaying in my mind. I think Penn State deserves a lot more credit for stopping the run game than our O line does.

Them getting credit = our offensive line getting the blame

Their success = our failure

Our failure on offense? Blocking. Their rushing stats were pretty, why couldn't ours be? It was the same defensive game for them, too. Our o-line didn't have a good night, no matter how you look at it.

What a linear train of thought. If our offensive line plays good. And their defensive line plays great we are going to end up looking poor statistically. Their game plan coming in was to stop the run. Everything they did was predicated upon it. Our O line cannot possibly affect what happens after Beanie has run through a hole, and I saw him get hit consistently right after making it through a hole by the second line.

That's not the point I was making. Just kind of curious what's up. That pistol formation has been highly effective, would have been nice to have that in the arsenal though.
