This is the letter I wrote after I regained my composure.

Dear Editor,

I read Travis Johnson's most recent "piece" with great interest, namely because it is yet another example of Penn State's inferiority complex concerning all things Buckeye.

As an Ohio State Alum, I understand and celebrate the intense rivalries in our Big Ten. But to suggest that the Bucks should not celebrate yet another Big Ten title, no matter what asterisk may be beside it, is ludicrous and denies the reality of college football.By this same tortured logic, Penn State's loss to Iowa should deny PSU a share of the Big Ten title. After all, Iowa was not ranked and largely thought to be inferior. We don't have a playoff system or a Big Ten championship game. Both of those need a remedy. But for now,and unfortunately but for a fumble whilst marching to yet another OSU victory, we have to share.Frankly, as long is it's not that School that shall never be named, I can live with a shared title. At least for a year.

Really,it's fine by us, seeing as we have a couple dozen already, and a recent National Championship.If Mr. Johnson wants, he's welcome to come visit our BCS title. Seems to me it would probably be a welcome sight for a Penn State student.Almost as welcome as a Head Coach on the sideline. I'm kidding. Well, no I'm not.

So, if it's allright by Mr. Johnson,

We'll continue to sell our Big Ten Champs tshirts in Columbus.

We'll continue to reload every year.

We'll continue to watch our Terelle Pryor grow even stronger in the Force before his visit to Happy Valley next year.

We'll continue to celebrate Ohio State with every breath.

...and we'll probably continue to recruit from Pennsylvania.

Finally,with a little luck, THE Ohio State University Buckeyes will prove in next year's National Championship Game that the third time around is truly the charm.

Err...this discussion played out on this board and theirs in 2005 too, when they beat us but lost in the last 2 seconds on the road to someone else and we didn't lose again. Old news really. Probably not worth getting all that riled up about.

I think I'd feel a little better about the letter if 'Terrelle' had been spelled correctly.

And I'll soon merge this somewhere.

Trying to be unbiased...but he has a point. We are tied for 1st in the standings. But there is no way any OSU fan can feel as good about saying "Big Ten Champ" as a PSU fan can. A) We didn't have to play the team PSU lost to. B) We have the same record, and they beat us in The Shoe. They deserve it more than we do. They beat us fair and sqaure...at our place. But they get the Rose Bowl, we don't. And that's the real prize. And they have a Big Ten Championship trophey and rings and shirts and hats. They have to feel sick, because had they not choked against Iowa, they'd likely be #2 in the country and going to the NCG, and also would be undisputed Big Ten Champions. They had a chance...and they blew it. I like that we've finished at least tied for 1st the past 4 years in the Big Ten. And 2005 was different, because they lost to Michigan...and we beat Michigan. So at least we could say we beat the team they lost to. Anyway...if there were a "Big Ten Championship Game" and they were in our division, we'd be sitting at home, and they'd be playing in the Big Ten Championship Game. Or if we were in seperate divisons, we'd get to play them again. It'd be pretty sweet to have a Big Ten Championship Game...I don't want to get into the arguement if it hurts or helps a teams chances of getting into the NCG. It can do both. Without it, Florida would be out. With it, Oklahoma may go from being in, to being out. So it can work either way. But it is an extra Big Ten game...and that would be fun, because I love watching Big Ten football. And i'm sure you do, too. So he is right when he says in the article that the Big Ten needs a championship game. They are fun. They bring hype to the conference and to college football.

He makes some good points though in the article. I understand where he is coming from, and if the rolls were reversed, Buckeye fans would feel the same way. Heck, I remember a lot of people didn't even want Iowa sharing the Big Ten championship in 2002. I'm just trying to not be so biased, and hopefully most of you can respect that. We are four time Big Ten Champs. It's the way the system works, and always has worked. But I can understand Penn State feeling more claim to it than we should.

As to the first sentence, being tied for first in the standings is all that is required to be Big 10 Champs. Sorry.

As to the second, I can feel just as good about saying Big Ten Champ, and I don't give a [censored] about the OSU PSU contest. Why? For the same reason as I don't believe Stanford is better than USC in 2007 despite head to head results. Sometimes the better team doesn't win. Don't get me wrong, H-2-H is instructive.... indeed, it's a perfectly good tie break and I wouldn't argue it's not.... but... it's not the Big 10 tie break. And I don't feel any worse for it. (Likewise, we can argue if PSU or OSU is better, and the h-2-h results are surely a point in PSU's column.... but... lets not forget, OSU was a fumble away from putting PSU behind the 8 ball.... and with a cold QB)

I wouldn't give a [censored]. I might give them a hard way on message boards just to bust their chops, but frankly, I could care less if it's shared with anyone.
