FAST
Texas is a very athletic team (read: SEC fast). What's more surprising is how fast Colt McCoy is.
The good news is that Texas can't run the ball...Their leading rusher (besides McCoy) is Vondrell McGee with 88 rushes for 376. Yes, that's right, it's like they didn't even try. But Cody Johnson is a physical freak of nature at 5'11" 255lbs and he's even got some moves. But what am I kidding, this is not a dynamic rushing team. They've done what they've had to do, but this isn't Oklahoma or USC (in terms of balance) or Florida (in terms of explosiveness). But, again, Colt McCoy is both explosive and balanced and probably still upset he had to play Ohio State in his first few games of his freshman year. |

I think Ohio State-Michigan circa 2006 answered this. Also, it's SEC vs Big 12 which everyone wants to see. We call it a BCS system, but really everyone gets to pick who they want (see LSU 2007). They made an astronomical leap after beating Tennessee, of all teams, in the SEC championship game. Unrelated, but what good is a championship game if it doesn't even put the two best teams in the conference against each other. Georgia didn't even play LSU in 2007 and Oklahoma got to play Missouri? C'mon. |

For the same reason LSU went from #7 to #2, leaping past #4 Georgia in the process. The voters will make sure we don't get Oklahoma-Texas in the NC game.

Doubt it, but I do think it's a possibility. |

I don't think 06 is all that similar. scUM got demoted because the voters felt they had already had their shot at us. Texas is out. They were out yesterday once Oklahoma won. |

This year's scenario would be different than 2006 because: a) Texas beat Oklahoma in the first meeting, so it is concievable that they could sneak in, whereas Michigan lost in the first meeting, b) there was so much controversy regarding which Big 12 team should make the championship game, and a lot of people felt Texas got the raw deal there and may still have them ranked ahead of Oklahoma by virtue of their head-to-head win, c) Michigan was behind Florida in the computers in 2006. Texas is ahead of Florida in the computers.
If we did get an OU-Texas rematch in the NC, what would happen to the rest of the bowls? Florida would default into the Sugar and Alabama would oppose us in the Fiesta? |

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Interesting scenario regarding a OU vs Tx NC game. Meyer would face his former Utah team in the Sugar (from a promotional standpoint that could possible sell) and we would play Bama in the Fiesta. Sounds about right to me.
