It would be nice to see some of the Texas guys around here again. They were a good lot. Of course, there was X-Ray Randy!

Not to start a frenzy but as reported in Tress' thread, he has grown a beard for the bowl game...Texas has no chance.

Man, I haven't been around this forum that much since the game in Austin, but the way things are shaping up, I might have to come around a bit over the next month. I have watched parts of almost every Ohio State game this year, but haven't payed too much attention. It will be interesting to see how the Texas players take the let down of being excluded from the Big XII championship game.
Lastly, for now, can some of you guys believe the turn around that Colt McCoy has made since he was a nervous RS freshman against your D in 06? I remember posting on here back before the game 2 years ago, that he would be okay that year, and I always thought he had some potential, but definitely did not expect a season like this to happen. I am sure some other Texas fans will come around this site if the BCS announces us both in the Fiesta, and most likely discredit Ohio State due to the last 2 MNC games, and the 2 losses, etc., etc., and the fan base as a whole is pretty [censored]ed off right now, and thinks that we deserve better, so I apologize in advance for any jackarses. Looking forward to a rematch, the long awaited rubber match, if everything goes as planned. |

I'm looking forward to seeing quite a few of the Texas posters back on this board... as for the jack-asses... every school has em. The Texas Posters we already know have little to worry about, even if their breatheren act like fools. |

Texas has one explosive player in Shipley.
I think we go in with a 4-3 base, 3-3-5 nickel situation on defense. That seems to be our comfort zone against spread teams. I wouldn't even be surprised if we went with a 3-3-5 to start. Force them to prove that they can run the ball on us. On offense, I don't think any of us know what to expect. The maturation of TP will be fun to see. |

I like our chances here. I think our D can do very well against Texas. They haven't been tested against a good defense yet. Their defense isn't great either itself. Can't wait to see what Pryor can do with time to prepare. The amount of improvement I saw in Pryor after our bye week was amazing. This kid loves to play on the road so I'm looking for a great game for him. Should be a great match.

Early Preview from Fiutak
Fiesta Bowl Texas vs. Ohio State Jan. 5 / 8 p.m. Phoenix, Ariz. FOX *BCS vs. BCS (Big 12 Champion, if available) Utah wanted the Fiesta, the Fiesta wanted Texas - Ohio State. Fine, so it would've been more interesting to have seen Ohio State play Alabama, just to see if the program can get the SEC elephant off its back, but there's no complaining about this matchup that was national title-good not all that long ago when Troy Smith and Vince Young were winging it around. Texas believes it should've been in Kansas City to play Missouri as a pitstop before going off to deal with Florida in the BCS Championship game, but someone had to be screwed in the equation. For those who care about this sort of thing, an impressive performance could mean an AP national title, even if it's a bit far-fetched and doesn't matter compared to the BCS Championship. A win for the Longhorns would allow the ticked off fans to gripe even more about what might have been, while a win for Ohio State would be the big-time victory the program desperately needs after the last two national title games and the fiasco against USC to start the year. Quick Breakdown: The two run defenses are among the best in America and, while it might not be sexy, you're not going to see a better matchup of punting games all year. That will matter as field position could mean everything. This will be the best defense Texas has faced by far. Colt McCoy and the offense has been able to light everyone up like a Christmas tree, but they haven't seen a secondary like this one. Meanwhile, Ohio State might actually have to open things up a little bit and start to throw the ball a bit more to keep up if McCoy gets rolling. Can the much-maligned Buckeye offensive line handle the Texas pass rush? It'll have to if this gets into any sort of a shootout. Best Wins: Ohio State 45-7 over Michigan State; Texas 45-35 over Oklahoma The Buzz Will Be ... Texas might want to come out and beat Ohio State, Oklahoma, Missouri and Florida in the first quarter. This will be an angry, angry team with a lot prove to the world as it'll want to make a statement. On the flip side, Ohio State had better show up. Another blowout loss in a BCS game would be a nightmare for the program and the Big Ten. Lose this big, and the Buckeyes will struggle to get the benefit of any BCS doubts going forward. McCoy was only a 3 star recruit coming out of high school. Jevan Snead was the highly touted on out of HS that Texas fans thought would eventually fill Vince Young's shoes. Many of the Texas fans that came to this board thought that McCoy was just keeping the QB position warm long enough for Snead to come in and save the day. By the end of the 2006 season it was apparent that McCoy was going to be good enough to keep the job and Jevan transferred to Ole Miss.
