Update: Stephan VanTreese I also talked to the 6-foot-9 VanTreese about a pending visit to Tobacco Road and other topics. VanTreese said Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Purdue and UCLA have already offered him a scholarship, while Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Kansas, Wake Forest and Michigan State are also showing a lot of interest. "I cut it off at those 13 schools and I'm only talking to those," said VanTreese, who said he is likely to make a decision around the middle of next October. VanTreese was at Indiana's Hoosier Hysteria last weekend and said "it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed getting to see all of the fans there." Not long after his trip, VanTreese found out about the penalties IU was self-imposing on coach Kelvin Sampson and assistant Rob Senderoff because of recruiting violations. "That's doesn't bother me; not really at all," VanTreese said. "It's not really a big deal." A top-75 player nationally and one of the top players in Indiana, VanTreese said he liked his recent visit to Louisville "really a whole lot. It was good." "I loved the facilities and everything about it," VanTreese said. "With (coach Rick Pitino), everyone really likes him and respects him as a coach." VanTreese still has Kentucky on his list but said he "wasn't sure" about his status with the Wildcats. "I don't know because I really haven't talked to them." On Wednesday, VanTreese is leaving for a trip to visit North Carolina and Wake Forest. He'll be the leader on the likely No. 1 preseason team in the state of Indiana, which opens play Nov. 21 against Lawrence Central. |

Van Treese enjoyed his trip to Indiana. Van Treese states that the recent sanctions on the program will not affect his decision unless Indiana was banned from the post season. |
