The 2-4 positions are pretty much interchangeable to him, just like they are to Mike D'Antoni. So Maymon isn't blocking Wilson just by occupying one of those 3 spots.

But your point about alienating Wilson is a salient one. Recruiting is 100 percent perception.....0 percent reality. If Wilson perceives himself as being blocked, he's blocked. I don't know what he perceives, but Tuesday's announcement couldn't have helped. Regardless, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Agree completely. You just never know what a kid will think when you take another similar player. Look no further than Purdue with Scott Martin & Robbie Hummel-very similar players and committed within a few weeks of each other because they played together in HS & AAU and knew it would work (Martin's transfer notwithstanding). Definitely agree that the bird in hand is worth two in the bush. In general, 95% of coaches just can't turn down a great player in hopes of getting an even better one.

My choice for Most Valuable Player of the 17U bracket, Wilson was simply outstanding while leading the Playground Elite to a 69-56 victory over Team NLP of Chicago in the title game. Whether he was swatting shots, using his length to defend on the perimeter and in the post, running the team from the point-guard position or making shots, Wilson showed why he is so highly regarded with his dominating play in the second half of the contest against Team NLP. Wilson scored 17 points in the title-game victory and did a great job of shutting down rugged 6-foot-3 Lenzelle Smith of Zion-Benton, Ill., during the final 10 minutes of the contest. Wilson was somewhat quiet during the Playground Elite?s lopsided victories in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, but his play in the title game was stellar.

Now it gets interesting-with Leslie McDonald spurning Duke (much to the surprise of everyone in Durham), Jamil suddenly moves to the top of Duke's wish list. He still doesn't have an offer, so hopefully Jamil won't look kindly on being a last resort for the Blue Devils, as opposed to being option 1A for others.
