'09 OH WR/SS Desmar Jackson
6'5, 180 pounds
Warren JFK High School
In the early 90's, the state of Ohio felt the wrath of Omar Provitt, a 1992 graduate of Warren Harding. In 1990 in particular, Provitt played a huge role in the Raiders' state championship as they went 14-0. Now, nearly two decades later, Ohio now has to deal with his son, Desmar Jackson. Now, it's unfair to just expect any player to live up to Provitt's expectations. Jackson knows that, but he's set the bar high for himself as well. Offensively, he uses his 6'5 body to get good podition on opposing defensive backs, that is if he doesn't run away from them first, and his soft hands are reminiscent of his father's. Defensively, he's willing to throw his body around to make stops. With his size at this stage of his career (he doesn't graduate until 2009), Jackson's potential is through the roof, and the scary thing is that he might be better in basketball. Only time will tell how his story ends, and the next few chapters aren't going to be very pleasing to opposing teams. Here is film of Jakson's sophomore season courtesy of scoutingohio.com. It has an "old school" twist to it.

He's been to a few OSU basketball games at their request. From what I've heard, Jackson is leaning towards the hardwood at this point. His grades are average as well, though his dad is making sure Desmar doesn't screw things up like he did.

Things went south after he was suspended for much of his senior year. Head locked a teacher, by Omar's account in fun, but the school saw it differently.
After a few more twists and turns the closest Omar got to the big time was playing in the CFL (I think).

Thanks for the info. Another couple of questions, what position did his dad play in, and where?

I don't want to get into his father's misfortunes, but he was a heck of an athlete. He played wide receiver, cornerback, and he retunred kicks. He is arguably one of the best to ever play HS football in Ohio. His senior year (c/o 1992), he was ranked ahead of Keyshawn Johnson. Desmar's film has a little intro of some of his father's plays.
FWIW, Omar graduated from Warren Harding with Leshawn Daniels & the late Korey Stringer, both played at Ohio State and went to the NFL. In 1991, WGH was ranked #1 in the country before they lost at Boardman. They won the state title in 1990.
