Please read the forum guidelines which show how to properly lay out a thread for a new recruit. I will clean this one up for you...
In the meantime, you can discuss '09 recruits here: 2009 Instate Players to Watch |

Are we leaving hometowns and high schools out of the profiles now? (this can be deleted if someone wants to pm me).

Nope. We need school, town, physical stats (minimum ht, wt, 40), listed favorites, offers, and any initial comments (interest level, legacy player, friend of a current player or prospect, etc.).

I was listening to the Bucknuts radio hour (free access/non-premium) a couple of days ago and Duane Long was going over his top 10 juniors in the state of Ohio and after he went through the list, he mentioned Payne as a kid to watch. He said he hadn't seen any video yet, but from what people/coaches were telling him, Payne could be the best prospect at QB in Ohio since Justin Zwick. Food for thought.

I'd say Payne would be the next Arvell Nelson at Glenville but they have a junior already by the name of Terrance Owens who looks intriguing. Imagine a lighter but more polished version of Hines behind center (they're both southpaws).

Apparently Payne will be featured in an article on Bucknuts and ESPN. and he is not only rated as top qb in ohio from class of '09, but #4 nationally.
For what it is worth, the word is he has tons of talent, size and upside but doesn't have the greatest work ethic. |

That's going to have to change if he wants to play at tOSU...

Devante has been invited by staff to 3 OSU games his year, not sure which games at this point.
Pitt has sent him tickets to some games too. |

South Won 20-13 but devante didn't throw any TDs (but a few would be TDs were dropped)
Don't be surprised if he is at Glenville next year...just my guess. He isn't gonna improve if not surrounded by talent, and without playing against topflight competition. |

That's the only way they can get people to come to their games.

I'd be surprised because Ginn loves Owens at QB. You have to go back to the last century to find a Tarblooder who had the QB job to himself for two years. Arvell Nelson was the only one to start two consecutive years but split time as a junior.

Devontae says he is hearing from Ohio State, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas, Syracuse and every one of the MAC schools. |
