Bucknuts($): Bucknuts.com - Studlien Leaves OSU's Junior Day Without That Much-Coveted Offer
Did not receive an OSU offer today. Plans to attend June camp at tOSU. |

I have seen Will a couple of times because he plays at the same school as where my wife's family is from. Will is a top notch player who has an eye for the ball. Where ever the ball is he is there to attack and make the tackle or the assisted tackle. He is deserving of an OSU offer in my opinion. He can play and will be great for OSU if he gets a chance. He has a motor like A J Hawk. He plays side line to side line. Maybe he is doing bad at the OSU camps but I do not know why because the kid can play from what I seen of him. He can play offensive line as well as LB. He was just as good with the OL that he was as LB. Why not the offer? Does anyone know why OSU and JT are holding out for this great LB?

I don't believe Will is a candidate for a FB offer...he is being recruited my just about everyone as a LB. And I don't see OSU taking two FBs after the late offer to Martin. If they did, Mike Marrow is probably the top candidate for that offer.
You all need to relax...it's still February of 2008. Think of how many kids OSU landed in the 2008 class that didn't get an offer right away. |

I hate to agree with IlliniBat from RP but Illinois has not offered that many more kids than OSU at this point...obviously there are probably some unreported offers out there but Rivals lists 29 '09 kids with Illinois offers and 19 with OSU offers (with a couple missing). Illinois just happens to have offered a couple of Ohio kids, more importantly central Ohio kids...and everyone is up in arms about it. I don't get it...OSU has the luxury of being more thorough with its evaluations of Ohio kids because most are willing to wait for an OSU offer. Ever year it's the same thing...people start making noise about offering Ohio kids. And the first time a kid mentions being a Buckeye fan we want to see an offer go out...without any concern about whether or not the kid is an OSU-caliber player. The fact is only a select few are going to be an offer from OSU. That's why OSU offers are so valuable and so coveted. I'm not saying Will will not eventually get an offer from OSU, but I can certainly understand why one has not materialized yet...
Rivals $ 2/11 From the OSU site...talks about the unofficial to OSU and also about the unofficial to Illinois. |

I tend to disagree with Illinibat. If Illinois has offered 29 athletes and OSU has offered 19 athletes, then I do think that Illinois has offered many more than OSU. The "raw" difference of 10 may seem small, but the percentage is fairly large. If we were talking 129 versus 119, then I would agree. |

What is the opinion of the BPRT concerning Studlien's strategy in his recruiting process?

Maybe Illinois is starting to become the dream offer for Will? |

Makes you wonder if Zook is getting into their ears about how we don't want them or don't care about them. I haven't noticed this problem with any other school. I really think Zook is getting in on these kids early and trying to turn them against us. Maybe this post is better suited for the Zook/Illini recruiting thread but I hope it's ok here too.

An early commitment would likely cause Ohio State to go in another direction, and there are plenty of other directions in which to go right now - there are lots of talented kids in state, and the Buckeyes are currently one of the top 5 teams in the country in terms of their ability to recruit on a "national" level (along with USC, Florida, Notre Dame, and Michigan). With two or three LB's already in the fold (Whiting and Homan and possibly Klein), and several more top prospects still on the board, Studlien just isn't in a very strong position right now with respect to Ohio State. But, Signing Day is a year away, and there's absolutely no reason for a solid prospect to make an early commitment ... unless it's to his "dream school". |
