Seriously, anyone's crazy if they think that Mike James(the other RB that signed to the U) and Lamar Miller are anywhere as good as Bryce Brown! Yes I know everyone's tired of his games, but to question his talent is absurd! That's like the people from scUM and the reset of the B10 schools who said Pryor wouldn't be that good and he was a prima donna. Talent trumps drama, and whereever this kid signs is getting a heckuva player, and a year or two from now if this kid plays up to his abilities, no one will care about any of this. And yes that Butler guy is a *****, and most people's disdain for this kid should be directed at Butler.

To a point I would agree, but there is always that magic moment when drama can exceed talent no matter what the talent(see owens, terrell). Not saying Brown is there, just commenting on the statement.

Miami fans that I know have been telling me they are just sick and tired of the Brown antics and his 'agent' bit. They'd rather have someone who really wants to be here unlike a Robert Marve. They also start to wonder if the guy's head is really in the game at the next level.

Football is a fickle sport, talent development wise. If a kid is not ready to bust his butt and be a good soldier for his chosen program for at least 3 years, they will be chewed up, spit out, and left by the side of the road while Roger Goddell drives by laughing. Ask yourself who everyone thought would be the more highly sought after NFL prospect in April's draft-Fred Rouse or Brian Robiskie, Alex Boone or Eben Britton. Once a player makes it to the NFL, they can have a mercenary mentality-and succeed. In college, not so much-prima donna's find their acts get a lot less attention at UTEP or Jacksonville State as opposed to Miami or Ohio State.

In my mind, the jury is still out on Brown, especially after seeing his brother go to Miami as one of the highest touted player, only to be beaten out by Spence, a 3 or 4 star player. I've watched both highlight reels, the talent level that Brown plays against isn't 1/5 of what is played down in Dade county.
Factor in the "weirdness" of the situation, (Not bashing, just saying the situation is weird with the mentor, the unfolding of the recruiting process, the fasting, the brother situation etc.) and I would go with the hometown guy any day if I was Miami.

Say what you want about Browns performance in the AAA game, I like Miller better.

Bryce Brown's Miami offer to "expire" Wednesday

Miami's scholarship offer to Bryce Brown is set to expire Wednesday and the Hurricanes will not be issuing another offer, according to the Associated Press.

The source spoke on condition of anonymity and stated plainly, "Miami will not give him another letter."

Brown's camp was unaware of any expiration date and maintains the highly-sought running back would not change his March 16th announcement date.

Despite the recent happenings and a long list of other potential suitors, including Auburn, Kansas State, Oregon, Tennessee and USC, Brown still considers himself a Miami commitment.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Miami set to pull out of Brown sweepstakes?
(free)

Bryce Brown's recruitment continues to take on almost-mythical proportions, as now comes word that one school may pull out of the sweepstakes.

Brown, a running back from Wichita (Kan.) East who is the nation's No. 1 player, has maintained that he is a Miami commitment despite looking at other schools. He already has taken visits to Clemson, Oregon, Tennessee, Kansas State and Missouri, is scheduled to take an unofficial visit to LSU on Feb. 27 and was planning to take his final official visit to Miami on March 3. Brown then was to make public his decision March 12.

But news surfaced Tuesday that if Brown doesn't sign his national letter-of-intent with the Hurricanes today, Miami likely will cease its recruitment of him. The letter-of-intent Brown was offered by Miami expires at midnight Thursday, and a person involved in recruiting the running back says UM will not re-issue the scholarship offer.

"Everything that Coach [Randy] Shannon is doing here is about team," a high-ranking source in the athletic department told CaneSport.com, a Rivals.com Web site. "There is always going to be concern about a player or a prospective player who isolates himself as an individual.

"There is a strong chance that a new letter-of-intent will not be offered if he doesn't sign by Wednesday night."

Brian Butler, who is handling Brown's recruiting, told Rivals.com Wednesday that neither he nor anyone in Brown's family has spoken with Miami since the report surfaced. But Butler feels confident Miami remains a viable option.

"We talked to them right before this all broke," Butler said. "Bryce talked with Randy Shannon, and Coach Shannon talked to Mr. Brown as well. I guess there was some guy from The AP that talked to somebody from the school and the information was that they were considering dropping Bryce.

"Whether that is true or not, I don't know. Bryce and Mr. Brown talked to the head coach. I trust Coach Shannon and his word more than an AP reporter. Mr. Brown and Bryce talked to Coach Shannon on Monday and he knows what the situation is, and we've not heard anything to change our status with them."

The letter-of-intent drama was just part of the buzz about Brown on Tuesday. The story took another twist when Brown announced on Butler's Web site that his final two visits would be to LSU on Feb. 27 and to Miami on March 3. Brown, who uses the Web site as his preferred way of making recruiting-related announcements, also talked about his official visit to Tennessee.

"At LSU, I want to see the offensive game plan, meet the people and get a feel for the city of Baton Rouge," Brown said in the statement. "[Miami will be] in spring ball, so I want to see how the coaches interact with the players at practice and look at how the new offense is coming along.

"The players and the coaches at Tennessee are fired up down there. I could tell that they are working hard to battle for the SEC title. We talked about how they are going to block different run plays. We also talked about the impact that Coach [Lane] Kiffin had with the Oakland Raiders over the past couple of years, as well as his NFL experience with the St. Louis Rams."

Brown said Kiffin, the Vols' new coach, did his best to sway him to sign with Tennessee.

"You can feel the passion that he has to make UT champions again," Brown said. "He already has proven that he is one of the best offensive minds in football. Coach Kiffin made a big impression on me."

I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread before, but does anyone else get the feeling that the NCAA is going to look for any way it possibly can to get Bryce Brown ineligible from the second he signs a letter of intent?

I think the NCAA will do anything it can to increase TV ratings and revenue.

So, no.
