Ever been to Madison in the summer? The lakes are beautiful. It's a great town. Probably not quite equal to UVA in academics, but that depends on which area (engineering and math are probably stronger at UW, for example).

I can vouch for this statement. madison was a great town but of course it helped that osu smacked wisky 23-7 (2000) the day we were there.

Defensive end Pat Muldoon and linebacker Luke Kuechly (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier), two of the Top 20 prospects in the Buckeye State, made official visits to Boston College together the weekend of Sept. 6. They will next visit Virginia the weekend of Nov. 22 when the Cavaliers play Clemson.

The 6-foot-4 and 240-pound Muldoon also made an official visit to Wisconsin the weekend of Oct 4. He plans to visit Duke Dec. 5 and is working on a date for an official visit to Cincinnati.

"I'm 95 percent sure I'll take all five official visits before I decide on a college," Muldoon said.

The 6-foot-2 and 215-pound Kuechly will only make four official visits. He goes with Muldoon to Duke the weekend of Dec. 5, and will also visit Stanford on Jan. 9.

"I'll definitely visit all four before I make my decision," Kuechly said.

Muldoon has scholarship offers from over three dozen schools while Kuechly was offered by every school in the Big Ten except Ohio State.

The two helped St. Xavier win a state championship when they were juniors. The Bombers finished with a 4-6 record this season.

Yeah, I've been to Wiscy, no contest...the Virginia area is an improvement.

Surprised to find out that Muldoon never had an OSU offer. I think he'll be a good one even if he's not a tOSU recruit.

As he went through the early stages of the recruiting process, defensive lineman Patrick Muldoon used a number of unofficial visits (he estimates he took 15 to 20 of them) as barometers of which school might best fit him. And the winner turned out to be Wisconsin.

"Just the whole package kind of sealed the deal for me," said the 6-4, 240-pound Muldoon, who played at St. Xavier High in Cincinnati. "It's a really fun town. There's always something going on there."

Muldoon, who might bulk up from defensive end to defensive tackle, picked the Badgers over Virginia, Cincinnati, Duke and Boston College. He?s is a firm believer in young Badgers coach Brett Bielema.

"I feel like he really knows what he's doing and has the program going in the right direction," said the Scout.com three-star defensive end.
Ohio State offered Muldoon in late spring, but it wasn't until Dec. 20 that Muldoon picked Wisconsin.

As a prep, Muldoon played against some big-time competition. "I think that will definitely prepare me," he said. As a sophomore, he lined up against the Pouncey twins -- Mike and Maurkice -- who currently anchor the interior of the offensive line at national champ Florida. "It was an experience," said Muldoon, who believes he had 1 1/2 sacks in the game. "It was crazy going against those two play after play. They were just pounding on me."

While the unofficial visits were beneficial, it was Muldoon's official to Wisconsin that helped seal the deal. "The atmosphere was insane," he said. "I wouldn't say it was a determining factor at all, but kind of like icing on the cake."
