D.J. says his recruitment has blown up in the past few weeks and he holds offers from all of the MAC schools and Big 10 schools with the exception of tOSU. Film: My Take: Tough to watch because it is so grainy, but the speed is obvious. Can't say much more than that from the film. |

D.J. will attend tOSU's Jr. Day this weekend and has offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Toledo, Wake Forest, Kent, Georgia Tech, and Miami of Ohio. |

CB or S?
Scout $ From the Kentucky site, pretty much maintains he's open and is focused on track for now, up to around 24 offers according to his dad. Confirms relation to a former player from Miami (Darrell Hunter I guess) and is also cousins with Skylar Jones from Wake Forest (who has offered). Last edited by schultgb; 03-10-2008 at 12:54 AM. |

D.J. says he was not expecting the Buckeye offer and already has people telling him he needs to go to tOSU. |

IMO the class isn't as deep, but is much stronger at the top.

Most opinions I've read on this site have stated the exact opposite.

It's safe to say that we have a lot more scholarships to offer.

Which is why I said IMO. I'll tell you this though...a lot of people who live and die Ohio high school football would agree with me.

It doesn't appear to me that this Ohio class is as deep as a whole compared to last year's from looking at early film, the big names/programs, and pre-season player rankings (for what they are worth). Top end talent very similiar, middle and overall numbers is where it drops off some. When you say "there are more OSU level prospects", I don't think that is neccessarily true. I think previous posters have hit it right on the nose : When you have a few more schollies @ your disposal you can offer these kids much earlier in the process and get your foot in the door regardless if they are 5,4 or 3 star ranked. I can name 3-4 Ohio kids (Beachem, Shaw, Sanders, a few)OSU would have loved to offer this past year if they had room. It wasn't that the kids weren't talented enough to play @OSU, the staff had to be so selective in the schollies they handed out. We also had Brewster, Shugarts, Sweat and Goebel (all OOS kids), committ fairly early. That also limited even more late in-state offers. Look at the early number of schollies that have gone out already this year. And it has paid off by the number of early committments in the 09' class. Couldn't do that this past year. In D.J.'s situation for instance, he's a good looking prospect. But he wouldn't have had an OSU offer @ this point last year if he was in the 08' class. He may have been one of those many in-state kids that hoped for but never received the OSU offer this past recruiting season. So to say there are more OSU-level kids, I would disagree. Loaded in Ohio or not, there is always enough talent in this state to go around. That's why all these coaches keep coming into Ohio to snag up all the talent OSU can't keep to themselves. It makes for a healthy and competitive MAC conference and hopefully Big 10 as well (Let's hope, I can't take the verbal abuse/bashing from the media and my friends much longer). Here's to hoping D.J. joins another great recruiting class the coaching staff is putting together. Go Bucks. ![]() ![]() Last edited by mendensa; 03-12-2008 at 01:17 AM. |
