I really don't think it's about that anymore. Just because you do or don't use one player one year doesn't seem to directly effect a particular recruit anymore. Tressel will adjust his play calling to utilize the talent he has. Just ask Troy or Terrelle.

Of the 32 Wisconsin alumni listed on NFL rosters, the "couple" TE's that Wisconsin has are Owen Daniels (Texans), Jason Pociask (Jets) but Pociask was inactive (DNP) in 12 of the Jets 16 games and contributed 1 catch in the remaining 4 games.
Jm2cw but the NFL opportunity factor for Hageman is not as clear cut as it is made to seem.
Sorry. I referenced OSU's Scout site alumni list, and they didn't have Hartsock listed. So it's 2-1 Wisconsin in terms of professional tight ends produced, soon to be 3-1, and Owen Daniels is by far the highest quality TE among the 3 players. He's started since his rookie year and had 63 catches for 768 yards last season. In spite of Daniel's outstanding production in the pros, Beckum might project to be even more prolific as a 1st or 2nd round pick. The coaching staff has done a superb job of developing Beckum as a receiver. If you recall, as a true freshman he played defensive end.

I asked Wisconsin commit Jordan Kohout, privately, who he thought had the best facilities among the schools he visited. The schools he visited were: Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, and UW. And I said be completely honest with me, don't sugarcoat because you're aware of my affiliation. Still, he said Wisconsin was the best of the bunch IHHO. I'm sure there was a smidgen of unavoidable bias on his part, but for your edification that was his response. I certainly don't think facilities would sway Hageman one way or another between UW or OSU. Being in semi annual MNC contention might in OSU's favor. Driving distance (4 1/2 hours v. 12 1/2) and use of tight ends might in Wisconsin's direction.

Why would it ever disintegrate as a factor? Most recruits have aspirations to go on to careers in the NFL, and want to be the man in college. More touches = more glory + a greater possibility they'll be noticed as an NFL prospect. Jake Byrne noted Wisconsin's use of tight ends last cycle before committing. I recall Lance Kendricks proclaiming his deciding factor was seeing Chris Chambers and Lee Evans tear it up as receivers in the same game in the NFL. John Clay loved how frequently Wisconsin used their backs. OSU might use a TE more frequently if he's a difference maker, but he needs to prove it repeatedly on the field first. Wisconsin's Offensive Coordinator Paul Chryst consistently uses TE's as a focal point of his offense. Hageman would be given every opportunity to emerge.

Did he visit OSU?

I only ask because OSU just spent quite a bit of money on upgrading the facilities. I cannot imagine anyone, in the Big 10, with "better" facilities at this point.

Nah, cous. He's a weight room freak though, and that's Wisconsin's best facility, so it probably wouldn't matter to him personally. It's our M.O. to take 150 pound kickers and turn them into lean 310 pound offensive linemen.

Is your S&C coach a BARWIS brother or something? I thought only one school in the big ten could develop their players into superhuman athletes.

Don't get me wrong, I love UW (second only to OSU). I didn't (and won't) denigrate their facilities. I'm just saying that OSU has recently spent a criminal amount of money on new facilities.

Back to Ra'Shede...

From the Ohio State site. Hageman's father says that they were both very impressed with Ohio State at camp this weekend. The Ohio State coaches told him that they will hold a spot for him, and he got the sense that they are expecting the largest recruiting class they have ever had. He will visit Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Florida soon for camps.

Ra'Shede is worth saving a spot for imo. He is the best receiving TE prospect I can recall us recruiting. I personally think he is a top 100 type player.

Better than Louis Irizarry? I know things didn't turn out well with Louis but when he was being recruited he was thought of as a Tony Gonzalez/Kellen Winslow type game-changer. I would love to see Hageman in this class. Hopefully the team will make use of Ballard's freakish combination of size/athleticism and Ra'Shede will see that there is a place in the OSU offense for a pass catching TE.

It's actually "powerlifter", and he's instituted a new "supplement" focused program which will allow our athletes to realize their full potential.

I forgot about Rudolph...I guess it's the first one we've had a legit shot at landing in awhile. I never saw Irizzary on film, so count from '02 up.

There are 4-5 things that I noticed. He could play offense or defense without a doubt. He is very fast for his size. He likes to hit/block. We are recruiting this kid to catch the ball rather than Block IMO...He will be asked to do both though. He could put 30-40 LBS of muscle on his frame no problem. I love the offer and am pulling for him to pull the trigger for the Buckeyes.
