Looks as though Tank's gonna be following in the footsteps of Javon Ringer & Jeff Cumberland as the best high school player in Ohio not able to meet the OSU clearinghouse standards. Unfortunate, because Tank looks to be a guy who could really develope into something special.

Darn, on the low Ron Zook is scooping up almost every kid in OH possible that doesn't go to tOSU! Between Ron Zook and Brian Kelly, theyre starting to chip away at the recruits throughout OH. Tress & Co. might need to watch out

Maybe a "watch out" would be warranted when more players that have been offered are "snatched up." I'm pretty sure players that don't get offered by OSU have always gone elsewhere.

It doesn't matter if tOSU offers or not, teams can be very successful with the players not offered. The point is tOSU is getting more comp for players in OH. Besides Illinois, you also have U. of Cincinnati, who's tapping into the recruits. Zook is trying to build something at UofI with a foundation of OH recruits. Everyone thought Scott was in the bag last year, and if I do remember he was offered by us. Don't be surprised if UofI is in the running in the Big10 in a few years. And don't surprised when UC starts stealing more recruits, I mean with a win tomorrow they will be the only team in OH in a BCS bowl game!

The point is that it's not "competition" for recruits if we don't offer them. That's other teams picking over the best of the rest. You named 1 Ohio kid that we didn't get that we actually offered, and you think that Illinois and Cincinnati (!) are going to start taking the top-shelf talent from us. Granted we did offer Turner out of Massillon this year, but nobody is going to get every single in-state kid. Look at Texas; they're whole roster is made up of Texas kids, yet they lose top kids every year to Oklahoma, LSU, etc.

Get a grip, man.

According to this Scout article (re-listing OSU as the 2009 recruiting national champions after further evaluation), Tank shows up as a "key loss" for Illinois at the bottom of the article.

Shouldn't be all that surprising to those that followed his recruitment, but he didn't make it academically. Anyone know where he ended up??
