My Take:
Frame is the game and Cornelius has a prototype. Long arms and wide shoulders with plenty of room for growth in the legs. Solid first step, but its that change of direction and lateral agility that separates him. He has another gear when he in pursuit. Impressive prospect. |

From the bn article he will be moving to Columbus soon, so I am sure he has has things to sort out there...Just a matter of time IMO... I would also take all of Fellows, Carradine, and Fellows...Redshirt one or two of them to create a little separation...Fellows could outgrow the DE position possibly and I think that Newsome could possibly play OLB... |

No idea about grades, test scores, etc. I can see the staff taking multiple DE types next year.

Amazing to think that if Fellows sticks to his commitment in the end, we still have players instate like Carridine looking for offers. Great looking prospect. One thing I noticed was that every now and then it seemed he was the last one to react to the snap, but he was still the first one to blow up the ball carrier. Looks like a nightmare for opposing QBs on the pass rush.

Wow...what a prospect. If this guy hits the combine circuit, he could earn 5 star status (going to throw out that prediction ala Posey in '08). I like his potential and if he gains some weight and strength to help him in run support, "Tank" is going to be unstoppable. Grad already mentioned his frame but he looks every bit of 6'4, if not' 6'5 or 6'6. Carridine is the most explosive DE prospect I've seen in Ohio since Rose but I would compare him more to Ben Martin. Hopefully his grades are in order.

OK, so obviously Carridine is a great prospect with loads of potential. However, this is where this whole recruiting game gets tricky. The staff needs to evaluate a few things here first:
Do we still have a great shot at Fellows? (I'll answer this one: Yes, very much so) Does Willie Mobley play inside or outside? How good is Carridine's competition? Does Carridine have the body to gain weight and keep his speed? Is he a coachable kid... how is his attitude? Is he so good you can't pass him up, a can't miss kid? Is he a better prospect than Jamel Turner, William Gholston or any other 2010 DE already on the radar? Where do Rose and Gibson end up? (Rose DE/DT and Gibson LB/DE) Depth next year; DE: Heyward, Rose, Gibson, Wells, Thomas, Williams, Mobley... Wilson could stay... Fellows may jump on board With tha haul of DLmen we got in 2008, we have 3 potential DEs in Wells, Williams and Mobley. I agree that a rotation of DLmen throughout the game is the way to go, to keep fresh legs on the field. But we also do not want to overload the position, possibly scare off a kid like Turner, Gholston or the '10s, or create holes at other positions of need. Unless Carridine is a must get type of kid, he will probably have to wait and see until the staff comes up with some answers for the question above. |
