'09 NC OL Xavier Nixon (Official Offer)
'09 NC OL Xavier Nixon
Recruiting Planet (News Only)
Offensive tackle
Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt
Ht: 6-foot-6
Wt: 275 lbs
Class: 2009 (High School)
Film:
My Take: It is unfair at the high school level to be that big and still be that quick. Xavier has a long lean frame with plenty of room and shows excellent feet and activity. His hand placement/activity was solid and his understanding of angles was impressive. He is light and definitely needs the weigthroom but he is so athletic...he moves as well as any OL I've seen in the past few years.

Nixon Makes NC State Visit
By Phil Kornblut
OL Xavier Nixon (6-7 270) of Fayetteville, NC is one of the top prospects in the country at his position and has 28 offers at this point. Among the offers are Clemson, USC, LSU, Alabama, North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida, NC State, Tennessee and Ohio State. He picked up his LSU offer Wednesday. Wednesday night Nixon went to NC State for the basketball game with North Carolina and while there met up with Wolfpack head coach Tom O'Brien. "I talked to him at halftime," Nixon said. He also attended junior day at North Carolina and plans to attend a junior day at NC State this Sunday. D uring his spring break Nixon plans to visit Tennessee and Ohio State. As for the Palmetto State schools, Nixon said, "I hear from Clemson a lot, but I don't hear that much from South Carolina." Nixon identified his Clemson recruiter as Chris Rumph but could not name the USC recruiter. Nixon does not have a favorite and has not trimmed his list. He plays mostly at left tackle and said his mean streak is one of his strengths. "If you have someone in front of you, you want to hurt him early and he won't go up against you the rest of the game." Nixon also cited his strength and stamina as plusses and noted that he plays with his pads low.

Do you really think he's that much better than Marcus Hall? I know it's still early in the recruiting process and these kids have another year of ball to play, but what sets him apart from say Hall, Leon Hill(Illini commit) and Eric Shrive who are considered the best OL in the midwest?

IMO=in my opinion^ In WAD's opinion he is the best in 09...OL is a hard position to project in college. Either way if the staff offered hes definately deserving and that good enough for me.

He is more polished than Hall at this point and uses his upper body much more effectively. His lateral movement is superior and his footwork is pretty decent for a high school junior. He is much more athletic than Shrive, although I've seen very limited film of Shrive. Hill is a project, IMO (as all OL are to some degree). Nixon is more like a Mike Adams...built to contribute at the college level right away. The fact that he has offers from EVERYONE is a huge indication of his talent levels. Schools are going to be looking to Nixon to come in and play right off the bat...

Wow! Ok I'm sold on the kid. It's just that you hear so much pub about Marcus Hall, not just being from OH but also on rivals.com as well. But I'll be looking out for this kid.

LOVE this offer. Like Wad said, he's the best OL in the country for 09. He's this year's Mike Adams, IMO. Ready to contribute right away. I love that he's coming for an unofficial soon.
