Yeah, I don't know if I'd go this far, but I'd like to see Vlad with us as well. I hope this kid still gets to C-bus though because he is a heckuva athlete and will be a talent at whatever position he plays. But it's sad that such dumb decisions are made by teenagers sometimes.

Rivals' Wisconsin site is reporting that Bradley is a silent verbal to Wisconsin.

We supposedly have another silent verbal yet to be reported and it's theorized to be Chris Freeman. In any event, former OSU S&T coach Joe Rudolph has been a big shot in the arm to UW's Ohio recruiting. McDougald, Muldoon, Freeman?, and Wozniak.

I think that it was a graceful move by all parties involved to let it go. As I've said to my wife before, "just because something may be 110% true, doesn't mean that it needs to be said..."

McDougald initially committed to Ohio State before switching to Kansas with the desire to play on the offensive side of the ball.

McDougald played running back and defensive back in high school but arrives in Lawrence listed as a wide receiver. Mangino said McDougald would see time as a freshman both as a returner and on offense.

Mangino?s take: ?I have not really had a true freshman come in and do what he can do since I?ve been here. He will play. He?ll be in the mix both at the line of scrimmage and on special teams.?

By all accounts, senior wide receiver Kerry Meier is one of the friendliest and most well-liked individuals on Kansas? roster. Those who know him say he?s selfless and admirably humble despite his on-field success.
?Kerry, he?s just an awesome guy,? friend and former teammate Tyler Lawrence said.

But even the notoriously easy-going Meier couldn?t resist taking a crack at Kansas? latest offensive weapon: freshman wide receiver Bradley McDougald.
After hearing that coach Mark Mangino publicly heaped praise on McDougald last week, Meier playfully ribbed Kansas? talented and rising young playmaker.
?I had to just give him a little bit of trouble,? Meier said, smiling.
It?s all in good fun, though, as Meier and Mangino both said McDougald will be a significant piece of Kansas? offense and special teams this season.
In his short time on campus, McDougald has continually impressed coaches and teammates with his natural athleticism and smooth transition from the high school level to Division I.
With coaches unable to attend summer workouts or seven-on-seven games, McDougald?s potential bounced around the different parts of the football program through word of mouth.

For the second straight week, our Sideline Report focuses on a KU true freshman. Here's an extended conversation with wide receiver Bradley McDougald.



Jesse Newell: I heard you're a good cook. Is that right?

Bradley McDougald: (laughs) I cook a little bit.

JN: What's your best dish?

BM: Fried chicken. My mom taught me how to cook fried chicken when I was littler. That's something to carry with me.


[Ed. Note ? No, this isn't Brad's family recipe. But I do love the chef's accent.]

JN: Is there some secret that you have with it that makes yours better?

BM: No, it's just kind of like a family tradition type thing. She just said that her mom taught her, so she was going to teach me how to cook fried chicken so that when I lived by myself, I could cook for myself.

JN: Did you like that your mom taught you to cook?

BM: Yeah. There's a lot of guys in college that can't cook, so they usually resort to eating fast food or ordering out a lot. Knowing how to cook is a big deal.

JN: Are you one of the most popular guys on the team, then? Do they always come over? Have they figured it out yet?

BM: (laughs) Nah, I don't cook that often. If I ever do need to cook, I know how to.

JN: I heard you're a Big Ten guy.

BM: A Big Ten guy?

JN: Is that true? Grew up in Big Ten country?

BM: Yeah, when you come from Ohio, you're surrounded by Big Ten teams. That's all you really watch is the part of the nation you're from. If you're from up north, or the Midwest, you just watch a certain type of football. So Big Ten was something I watched a lot of.

JN: OK, you tell me right now: Big Ten overrated, underrated or gets about the respect that it deserves.

BM: After coming to the BIg 12 and playing in the Big 12 and seeing the competition that's here and meeting different people from around the nation, I would say at times it's overrated, but some teams do deserve the respect that they are getting.

JN: Who deserves it? (pause) You're from Ohio, right? You've got to be careful here.


BM: Ohio State, year after year, is a very good team. They just have great coaches there. They work hard. Outside of that, Penn State is a really good team that deserves a lot of credit. Depending on the season, Michigan State can be really good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but he's only played 2 games at Kansas, neither against a Big12 team so he hasn't played in the Big 12 yet to be able to offer a comparison.
