Boyd Spends Saturday At USC
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jheranie Boyd (6-3 185) of Gastonia, NC made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday along with his mother and mentor Joseph Johnson. Boyd said they arrived in Columbia around 10:00 AM and left around 3:30 PM. "It went good, I liked the campus a lot," Boyd said. "The academic guy, Raymond Harrison, was real motivational. They are really trying to turn that program around. I really liked the campus a lot. I met with coach Spurrier as soon as I got there. He said their grade point average was one of the best in the SEC, and he's trying to get the players focused on going to class and winning an SEC Championship and a national championship." Boyd plans to narrow his list to about 15 schools early next week. LSU was his most recent offer and he has a total of 32. He said USC and Clemson would be on that list. In July he plans to get the list down to ten, and the plans to trim it to about seven schools by the start of the season. Boyd said he will be taking trips in June to Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State and Ohio State. And he plans to attend a three day camp at Clemson June 11th.
