Just to clarify a few things...

-I was shocked there was no thread already about him.

-Some of you forget that Troy is only 6ft...barely.....he said he stretched himself pretty good to get that 6.0000000000000ft at the combine

- OSU liked him a lot before he committed to WVU but moved on thinking they wouldn't really need a QB, but things have changed and they felt they had other options, hence the interest in Newsome, the kid that committed to Kentucky ( Newton, just remembered), etc

- He fits the type of QB that would make sense ..... a kid that can fill the depth chart extrememly well, but could switch positions with ease if competition forced him out.....just like Troy. I am surprised a JUCO hasn't surfaced....but that tells me JB is staying which is a very good thing

...a quick scheduled visit followed by a commitment would not surprise me. Just seems like the right place at the right time for OSU

speculation on my part, but Lane is a pocket QB coordinator. I don't think Boyd fits his system.

That is actually the exact reason. Kiffen told him that UT would honor the commitment, but he is not "their guy." He did more than hint that he should look elsewhere. It is in the article above.

When you first put on the tape it is easy to think Boyd is an athlete playing quarterback and not the other way around until you see several series and realize he is a heady, productive passer with a live arm and the legs to be a serious dual-threat in the spread offense. He has very good mechanics overall. He gets back and sets up quickly and carries the ball high in the pocket. He has a quick release and drives off his back foot to get good power and velocity on his throws. He also shows very good touch on seam routes and crossing routes and shows the consistent ability to lead his receivers. He has a good strong arm and he shows that he can make all the throws. He has very good accuracy in the short-to-intermediate passing game. He shows that he has good toughness and the ability to stand in and take a hit, but rarely has to because he can elude the rush so well. He has very good quickness and he can buy time in the pocket with his movement and he shows the ability to avoid the rush. Is very shifty and shows wiggle in the open field to make people miss. He is a threat when he pulls the ball down as he has the elusiveness to really hurt a defense. Although he has good running ability he lacks the ideal top end speed that would make him a home run threat at wide receiver if moved there. He is quick and elusive and plays with smarts and toughness. Even though he can really run and make plays with his legs, you can tell he takes pride in the passing game and proving he is a worthy throwing prospect. Very good athlete that is versatile and extremely productive

I like it and surprising indeed. I think we really need another QB and Boyd would certainly fit the bill. I love his presence in the pocket and he really steps into his throws. Strong arm and very athletic. Good stuff.
