Q: Hey, Tim: I know LeBron James is a once-in-a-generation player, but are there any potential NBA superstars at the freshman or sophomore level locally I should try and go see?

A: Hey, Fred: No. Even if there were, I'd be hesitant to put that weighty label on any kid. But there is one special young player worth seeing: Benedictine 6-4 sophomore Cameron Wright. I saw him play in the regionals as a freshman last winter and was immensely impressed with his poise and passion for the game. He played four positions and averaged 15 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists last season, helping to lead a 10-10 team to the regional finals. In October, he made an oral commitment to play at Ohio State in 2010.

Senior center Tom Pritchard scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead St. Edward to a 74-61 nonleague win over the visiting Bengals.

The Eagles used a 19-5 run to pull ahead, 68-55, with 2:50 left. Benedictine had challenged thanks in part to sophomore guards Derek Jackson and Cameron Wright. Jackson scored 27 points, and the 6-5 Wright added 14. Jackson is nearing full strength after being hampered by a severe infection. Wright, who already has made an oral commitment to play at Ohio State, missed the Bengals' previous game with a sprained ankle and didn't enter Friday's game until midway through the second quarter.

trust me he had 16 in the second half not 14. also its hard to beat a team that is already shooting penalty shots in the beginning of the 2nd and 4th quarters. for a kid to come in a game with 3:02 left in the 2nd quarter and score all of his points in the 2nd half (16) on limited minutes is pretty impressive. I feel bad for those kids the way they were shafted at St.ed's but hey it is what it is.

That should be an interesting game because he will be going up against one of my favorites for an offer in Kellogg.

Cameron did not have his best night. Explosive off the dribble and in the open court. His shot mechanics need some work, and he forced the issue a few too many times. But the potential is certainly there.

Litl's guy Nick Kellogg got the best of him in this matchup in terms of performance, though they did not face each other directly.

I will have photos up later tonight or tomorrow. One includes a sweet dunk in transition.

Nick scored 28 in that game. I just don't understand why he is not deserving of an offer compared to Cameron. I would be interested in how you think the two compare.

he forced a few shouts true but did you notice the 7 or 8 rebounds the 4 steals and 3 blocked shouts? or how about the assists? 1 turnover as was reported to me. good game overall I hear but the fouls were rediculous. de sales went to the line 23 times.... Benedictine just 9 or 10? unfortunate that Nick and Cameron didn't guard each other. two terrific players.

Doesn't Wright have a few inches on Kellogg. One plays the 1/2 and the other plays the 2/3.

Ya, I didn't realize that Nick was only about 6'2" where Wright is listed around 6'5" and Nick's 6'2" might be stretching it.
