The Bengals did not receive any votes in the AP Poll. I don't see how you think they are going to make it to the State.

First it depends on where the teams seeded are put...They could all be in one region, or the top couple teams could be in two regions or something...

But the high school AP poll means absolutely nothing, unless of course there is a very dominant team or something...

Last I checked rebounding and interior defense was part of basketball, and these were two areas where SVSM was better than Bennies. Bennies is good, just not St. Vincent St. Mary good.

13 points on the road isn't a lucky win.

I know how the seedings work I have been around for awhile. There are many good Division II teams in that quadrant of the state.

The AP poll is a good barometer of some of the better teams in the state.

Yeah I know I am just saying that alot of times there are un ranked teams in the final four every year...There are so many schools that it is hard to get a feel for the teams unless they are head and shoulders above other teams...

Kinda like AVSM when they had LBJ, but even St. Eds who was loaded last season and ranked top 5 in the state didn't make it to the finals...

thats funny because I do believe a benedictine team led by two freshman(Cameron Wright and Derek Jackson) did make it to the elite 8 and their team last year stunk. 10-10 regular season 15-11 to end the season. I don't care about rankings they mean zilch in the tourney. like I said before.... buckle your seatbelts buckfans. Any time you have the two best sophs in NEO on your team you have a chance.

Fast-rising Jamison pushes Bengals past Wildcats

Jamison is an able complement to the Bengals' standout sophomore guards, Derek Jackson and Cameron Wright. Jackson, 6-0, scored 17 points, canning 5 of 9 3-point shots. Wright, 6-5, who has made an oral commitment to Ohio State, was limited by St. Ignatius' scrappy defense and by foul trouble. He scored six of his eight points in the game's final 5:40 and dished crisp assists to Jamison for a dunk and to forward Robert Stallion for a fastbreak layup and 3-point play in overtime.

Thanks for the update...They are in the toughest regional left...They play Akron Hoban the #11 team in Div 2, and if they were to win they would play either the #1 team in poland seminary or Perry and Kenny Frease...

Still hoping that Wright and Benedictine can get to state...

Would be great to see Winchester, Libbey, and Benedictine all at state in D-II

Benedictine sometimes struggles on offense, facing junk defenses designed to slow Bengals stars Cameron Wright and Derek Jackson.
There is, though, a constant for Benedictine (17-5), one which enables it to play in to night's re gional semifi nal game against Arch bishop Ho ban (20-3) at the Canton Civic Center.
"We're playing excel lent defense," Bengals coach Rob Stircula said.
Wright, a 6-5 forward who has made an oral commitment to Ohio State, and Jackson, a 6-0 guard who is also a college prospect, helped lead the Bengals to a Division II regional final appearance last season.
"Their experience helps," Stircula said, "but you always have to remind yourself that they're still sophomores."
Opponents often play box-and-one or triangle-and-two defenses in hopes of slowing Wright and/or Jackson, who combine to score about 36 points per game
