Youngest Turson continues family tradition
Rated among the top 10 freshmen players in the state, the 6-foot-2, 170-pounder plays the four perimeter positions including the point.

"The trend of my boys is to grow fast early and then stop," Coach Brad Turson said. "My hope is Brook will keep stretching out and up. That would mean a lot if he is going to attain his goal of playing at Ohio State."

?I am very grateful to this school board for giving me that opportunity,?? he said. ?My boys have done their part though. I would have to think their presence made all of the teams they played on a bit better.?

Norwalk Reflector | Sports | Youngest Turson continues family tradition

Just an article I found from last year on the Turson family. Every Ohio kids dream of suiting up in the Scarlet and Gray.
I'll say this, Brooks brother Brett is a big boy. He's on campus in Columbus now. Someone needs to find that kid and put some shoulder pads on him and teach him to play guard on the football Buckeyes. Kid would be an Earth Mover if someone could lite a fire underneath him. The older Turson Graig, good basketball player. He played above himself at Tennesse Tech, but still deserved more time than he got down there. Graig scored like a 34 or 36 on his ACT test. Really smart kid. All the boys carried over a 4.0 all through(or in Brooks case currently) High school.

Brook Turson with a 26 point, 8 rebound game
St. Paul wins nail-biter over Plymouth, 44-43

By DON HOHLER - Reflector Sportswriter | Saturday February 09 2008, 1:14am
It was not a game for the faint of heart.

St. Paul and Plymouth hooked up in a true Firelands Conference barn-burner Friday night at the convocation center with the Flyers out-lasting the second-best team in the league, 44-43.

Although St. Paul had a more balanced offense with seven scoring compared to the combination of Brook Turson and Jacob Furr scoring 40 of Plymouth?s 43 points, it was a near standoff in rebounds where the Flyers had three more and in turnovers where both had 19.

The Plymouth sophomore certainly did his part, hitting 10 straight from the line and adding a goal.

Dellisanti had 11 of his teams 30 rebounds, while Turson owned eight of Plymouth?s 27.

Brook had a 17 point, 9 rebound game Thursday night. I need to look into assist totals. The kid is distributing the ball very well. The best part of Brooks game is his defense and ability to find the open player. I guess there's always someone open when your doubled and trippled all night. I believe Brooks defense is what is going to take him to the next level. He's lock down on the perimeter, and defends the post. Thats one major advantage of attending a small school, you learn to play all positions. Like I've always said, if Brook can consistently hit shots, mid-range, and the 3-ball, when open, he'll have all the tools to be a contribuiting major college player.

Turson chipped in with 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Yes I do know him. Were both from Plymouth so we have to be related somehow. The kids numbers speak for themself. I defiantly wouldn't start a thread of some bum. And i don't post unless i have something significant to add to a subject/player. He's the best player out of this area since, well Jon Diebler. But Brook and Jon have two different games that they play. Jon was score first in a high powered Keith Diebler offense. And Brook is a Defense first, Brad Turson, half court offensive scheme. Both Really good, winning, high school coaches. But the boys grew up in different systems so there hard to compare the two. How there the same, both coaches kids, Both the last of 3 boys(which all were pretty good in their own right) in their family, both have great knowledge of the game, and both command the floor when there on it. Confidence, intangables, floor command and being raised basketball from day one. You have to love the Coaches kids.

Does he have the speed, quickness, and explosiveness needed for the next level?

I don't believe he's Mike Conley fast, no. But he is plenty quick to get to the rim. Defensively sound, he has the much need quick first step. He's smooth, I don't know how else to explain him. I don't know who to compare his game to. Explosive, of course, he could use more of that. Honestly, he needs to grow 2 more inches to suit his game. I'm sure he'll be at the 2 or 3 guard in college.

Brook Turson dropped another triple double. Jacob Furr held court in the middle. But most of all, Plymouth got a third player going.

"We came out with tremendous effort, and we really needed a game like this to get us ready for the tournament," sophomore point guard Brook Turson said.

Turson scored 21 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, handed out 12 assists and took three steals. The chief recipients of his passes were Furr and Brown.

Turson also had a couple of highlight reel-worthy plays.

Early in the third quarter, he forced a steal, picked up the loose ball and in one motion threw a behind-the-back pass to Furr alone under the basket for a layup.
Later in the quarter, he rifled a no-look pass through traffic with his left hand to Furr to set up a three-point play.
"He sees the floor so well and gets everybody involved," Vipperman said of Turson. "When it's time for him to step up, they're going to go to him and he's going to answer. His court awareness is unreal. Everybody wants to have a player like that."
The News Journal - www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com - Mansfield, OH

check out brooks behind the back pass. It's the last clip on the reel. Nice Shooting game by Cory Brown also.

bigman_bt could go either way
Couple notes about Brook.

He averaged 22 pts, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 3.5 steals per game this year for the Big Red. Will probably be a 4 time conference POY, was the top vote getter in District 6 D4 (not POY cause only a senior can get it as the rule states) and will most likely be 1st or 2nd team All-Ohio this season.

He plays AAU with CBIZ and his team includes Nick Kellogg, Ralph Hill and others. They are a very good AAU team in their age bracket and I expect they will get better.

He's about 6'3", 185 and will prolly be a 1, maybe 2 at the next level. His court awareness is unreal. His defense is really his best asset and I think he definitely has the quickness to play at the next level.

Interest has been shown by multiple D1's including Wisconsin, Purdue, and Xavier. Heard that him and Kellogg were the reason a couple OSU coaches watched some of their games this summer in AAU.

Just some info on the situation, will provide more when I come across it.

Brook and the Big Red with a sectional finals win over Buckeye Central.
Next play Norwalk St Paul(one of only 2 teams to beat them this year) at Willard high school on Tuesday Night.

"Turson again posted a monster game for the Big Red (18-3), finishing with 23 points, 14 rebounds and nine steals (six in the first quarter)"
The News Journal - www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com - Mansfield, OH

9 Steals? Just missed a tripple double again.

Was he there on his own ticket or was he invited by Matta to come for free? The numbers he is putting up are nice, but the competition he is playing is absolutely pathetic...

I believe his own ticket, but not 100% sure. He's a Buckeye Fan, and Wisky is showing intrest. It was a good game for him to attend.

Yeah, I belive we had this conversation before about Brooks High School competition. It's not the best, I agree. And he looks like a Man amongst boys at times, sure. But he puts up similar kind of numbers on his AAU team also. He's a playmaker, that makes everyone around him better. He is exposed to high levels of competition, and he's consistently good and only going to get better.

Brook did have 51 points against Mansfield St Petes, who is pretty decent. Western Reserve is quality this year. Monroeville has looked explosive all year(until they played Plymouth). St Paul has some athletes. But no, the Firelands confrence is not the Columbus or Cleveland or Cincy, Akron, or Toledo City leagues. There's nothing wrong with the FC having a player like Brook. I think he shows tremendous loyalty and moxy for staying home, Great Character helping his home town, school, and teammates have somthing to be proud of. Good for Brook. A real tribute to him as a young man, as well as a great Student/athlete. In this day and age where kid are leaving there high schools for greener pastures, elseware at alarming rates. If he's good enough, the college coaches will find him, even in Plymouth, OH.

St. Paul, Plymouth to play for third time

BY DON HOHLER - Reflector Sportswriter | Monday February 25 2008, 11:36am

No secret is the fact that Plymouth lives and dies with the play of its two first-team District 6 players ? sophomore Brook Turson and senior Jacob Furr.

Turson had 28 points and went 19-for-19 from the free-throw line against the Flyers earlier this month with Furr netting 14.
