If true, Congrats to Williams Gholston! I hope he considers this Buckeye offer, but the consensus was that he is headed for East Lansing. Perhaps the offer gives him pause. Let's hope so. Assuming Turner is still on board, I would love a DE class of Durham, Turner, Moore, and Gholston.

He did, and his primary position was DE. But he also played OLB from time to time. His skill set is pretty much what the zone blitz is made to exploit; phenomenal pass rusher who is also quite competent in coverage of the TE, running back or fullback.

If William can approach 1/2 of Peppers's production as a Heel, he'll be all-conference - whatever conference he selects.

Given that Gholston has had a lot of time to contemplate not being a buckeye since September 1 of last year, does anyone have any insights into what his current favorites are? Is he still ours to lose?

My money is on MSU, but who knows could be a late decision type.

I'm glad we offered but I have no idea what took so long. I realize we are down on schollies BUT...not to throw out names but there are some recruits that have offers at his position before Gholston that really puzzled me, that we could have afforded to offer later. I think at this point it will be tough to pull him away from MSU unless he waits awhile. Hopefully Big Vern will be in his ear.

Hendricks was 6-7 and he played defensive end in college. Shula converted him to a linebacker in the NFL with the Colts. Obviously that was a different game back then, especially the college game. Game is based much more on speed instead of power now with spread offenses and trying to get guys the ball the in space. I think Gholston in college would be better suited as a defensive end similar to a Mario Williams.

Name one, just one, 6'7" "pure" OLB. Gholston will play "DE/LEO" here, not "OLB"...

I'm sorry you two dweebs couldn't figure out that I was taking issue only with the comment that someone 6-7 is "not a linebacker." And that's all I was taking issue with. For another example, Eric Kumerow played linebacker for the Dolphins, and he was 6-7. (Granted he played DE at Ohio State.)

For what it's worth, I also see William as a defensive end, more than likely. So I don't disagree at all with Mili's clarified comment.

Regardless of whether he prefers to play DE, LB, or TE, I'd really like seeing William as a Buckeye. Coaches will figure out soon enough what position is best for him, and I doubt they will ask me for my opinion. Mili and Oregon can best determine what impact their opinions might have.

It's about time we offered. It'll be interesting to see where everyone will end up playing (if we get Gholston). We'll have another DE/OLB to go along with Turner, Moore and Durham. Unless we're looking at Gholston as a TE. Either way, lets hope Gholston chooses the S&G.

Detroit (Mich.) Southeastern defensive end William Gholston has been the subject of much speculation by Bucknuts.com readers. OSU fans have been wondering why the Bucks have not offered Gholston?

I have wondered that myself as I am very impressed with the 6-foot-6 and 245-pound Gholston.

We need wonder no longer.

Gholston told Bucknuts.com that Ohio State assistant Paul Haynes talked to him for awhile, then informed him that OSU is offering. Gholston's list of offers includes Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame, Iowa, Oregon, Florida State and many others.

Gholston is the first player the Buckeyes have offered from the state of Michigan this year. Of course, as is the case with all OSU offers, Jim Tressel will be the one to make it completely official.

USC has offered...talks about his mom playing basketball at USC and knowing current Trojan Nick Perry...location isn't a factor...hopes to have a top 10 by the start of his season and would like to decide by mid-season.
