Honestly, that doesn't make much sense to me. First of all, I don't think chances of Pryor leaving after his junior year are high. That means DG would probably have two years at Ohio State before he starts (and he still has his senior year at high school). If staff is not confident he would be ready by that time, then they don't think very highly of him at all.

You can't assume that Pryor won't be leaving after his junior year. He'll be a first rounder if/when he leaves after his junior season even if he isn't a good passer (not saying he is or isn't a good passer, just saying that for discussion). He's 6'6, very fast, and has a ton of athletic ability. He'd be a heck of a target for a QB if he's not throwing the ball himself.

The offer to Montana over Gardner makes a lot of sense to me. As people have already said, we already have another "project" QB on the roster in Guiton, and adding another in Gardner would only give him one year to develop before one of them would likely have to take over. Montana is a more polished passer, and will likely be more ready to take over the reigns after a year than a "project" guy. The staff obviously thinks the team would be in better shape with a polished passer on the roster, and honestly, I agree.

I think it's pretty unfair to Devin to say the staff must not be very high on him. He just caught a bad break in the form of Tajh Boyd.

Tajh really screwed things up for a lot of people lol, except for Kenny Guiton

Don't know much about either of these kids, meaning Gardner and Montana, but I would like to see the staff offer a second QB whether it's Gardner or somebody else. I just don't feel real easy about the depth at QB right now.

One day after his visit to Michigan State, quarterback Devin Gardner landed another scholarship offer. West Virginia is the latest school to join in and offer Gardner a scholarship.

Gardner's list of offers now stands at 14 including West Virginia, Michigan State, Michigan, LSU, Notre Dame, Iowa, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin and Cincinnati.

"I'll narrow my list down to about five during the summer," Gardner said. "But I don't know if I'll make a decision then."

Gardner enjoyed the Spartans' junior day on Sunday. "It was pretty cool," he said. "I went to the Michigan State-Wisconsin basketball game. They honored their national championship basketball team.

I met Magic Johnson. It was nice. And I talked to the Michigan State (football) coaches."

Gardner said his next visit will likely be to Michigan on March 14.

Staff feels Pryor will be a dynamic QB by the end of his jr. year. Too much risk not to be prepared. If you don't bring in a QB that is ready to go you can really set the program back 2 to 3 years.

Very good pickup for UM. He'll provide excellent depth for down the road, but RR's success will still come down to Tate/Denard.
