Davion Rogers didn't play football last year as he had to focus on other issues. Now a junior, he's bigger, stronger, and faster than he was his freshman year. Skill wise, he has all of the tools to do great things on the field, but he'll prove his worth as he continues to gain more experience. He's already cracked the starting lineup for WGH, and his size alone didn't get him there. He has a hunger for the ball and the desire to do whatever it takes to make plays.

Obviously, it's still early for Ohio State to have seen Rogers (given his situation). That said, WGH traditionally plays a challenging schedule, so he'll have plenty of opportunities to show college coaches what he has to offer. If he continues to develop, somebody will eventually take a chance on Rogers based on size alone. It will take a lot more than that to impress Coach Tressel and his staff, but right now Rogers is only worried about developing his game even more. He's not in a situation to where he's never played the game before, so he won't have to be taught the basics (sometimes, you get that with bigger guys who decide to start playing in high school). He has work to do, so I'll keep you all posted.

FWIW, in yesterday's season opener at Shaker Heights, Rogers used his length to cover lots of ground as not only did he register several tackles for a loss, but he knocked down 3 passes as well. If he can start turning those deflections into interceptions, his stock will rise a lot quicker.

Davion says that although he is friends with Mario manningham and grew up next to Prescott Burgess, he is not at all interested in Michigan...only tOSU.

We certainly need an OLB as MLB is taken by Bullough but Rogers certainly looks like a good one.

Rogers is a big Ohio State fan, but that first offer is always special. Not only that, but Michigan State has a nice history with WGH players. It's been like that for a while, and I really don't expect that to change now as Coach Dantonio recruited the school well while he was at Cincinnati. Obviously, it's early and nothing is in stone yet, but the Spartans definitely made a strong push today.

Worm he end s up a DE at the next level right? He's probably a guy thats gotta come into camp and put on a great show for an offer but at 6'6'' he's got some quicks. If he could add the weight he could be a terror off the edge.

There have been HS quarterbacks who have gone to college, bulked up, and played defensive tackle! Not your everyday type of story, but it's possible. Size isn't everything, but it's something that you can't teach. There is talk that he may play some wide receiver this year, so that's another thing that I'll have to look into.

Warren (Ohio) Harding linebacker Davion Rogers, who plans to attend one of the Buckeyes' football camp sessions this summer, has landed his first scholarship offer.
The 6-foot-6 and 200-pound Rogers, who made 60 tackles during his junior season, received an offer from Michigan State today. Rogers is a talented athlete who will likely see his offer list grow steadily as he takes care of everything academically.

I agree with you, I see him as a rush DE, put 40 pounds on him, and let him wreak havoc.

Worm made a good point that QB's have played DT, but thats asking Rogers to gain 80 pounds, in this case it seems like it is too much weight and strength he would need to gain.

He could see the field in two years as a rush DE, it will be much longer if a DT.
