'10 TX DT Jay Guy (Nebraska Verbal)
Scout Profile
Rivals Profile ![]() Aldine (TX) Eisenhower High School Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 300 lbs Scout $ 5/28 From the LSU site. Guy doesn't hold any offers yet, but names an early top three of Texas, Florida, and LSU in that order. He says that if Texas were to offer, it would be hard not to verbal on the spot. Scout $ - Scouting Jay Guy 1/5 From the Texas site...projects as a zero technique/nose guard at the next level. Rivals $ 1/15 From the Texas site...talks about how grateful he is to have early offers (from Stanford, Kansas State, Michigan and Texas A&M)...has always wanted to go to Texas and could commit early if they offer. Probably a longshot at best but let's see how things play out when offers pour in from all four of the schools his '09 teammates are headed to...Texas, LSU, Oklahoma and Ohio State... |

Aldine is a north suburb of Houston, less than two hours out from Austin on route 290...

Rivals $
2/9 From the A&M site...has added offers from Missouri, Cal, Army and Baylor to go with offers from Texas A&M, Michigan, Stanford and Kansas State. Talks about speaking with the Cal and A&M staffs...says he has heard OSU has received his film. |

Jay's film is impressive, he just bullies people. Reminds me of Brandon Thompson from the 2008 class a bit. Texas already has 2 top-flight DT verbals, and 2 4* DT signees form 2009. Might he have a LEGIT shot here? I sure hope Kenny gives me some nice feedback. He is EXACTLY what we need a the position, exactly. With Rowell probably not makin git in... I would have to imagine a top-flight guy at DT woul dbe a need, and Jay Guy fits the bill....
EDIT: Texas fans seem to be convinced that they are done recruiting DTs for 2010 with who they have now. They say they MAY go after another, but feel the staff is set with the guys they have now. Last edited by BGriffBuckeye; 02-09-2009 at 10:11 PM. |

Rivals $ (SMU site)
2/12 Jay is up to 9 offers and is the most interested in Cal and Stanford from that group. He also mentions that he is really interested in tOSU. |

Rivals $ (Cal Site)
2/19 Committed to Cal. Shocked at how quickly this went down... I'm very skeptical that it sticks from what I've heard... |

= me when I read the titleI know he said he was most interesed in Cal and Stanford in the previous update, but it seems like he has quite a bit to wait for. Could be wrong. |

Scout $
2/19 From the Cal site. Commtted to Cal. Guy says it's a soft verbal, and that he'll continue continue to look at UCLA, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. He loves the fact that Cal is such a good academic school. |

Then why even commit? Seriously. If I were Tedford, I'd continue to recruit other DTs as if Guy didn't "commit"...

He sounds like a good fit at Cal, but this seems like a big mistake. Committing early and soft rarely seems to work out well in the long run.

Would love to get him up here for a visit. Might be a kid where his decision comes down the wherever he visits last.
