Andrew Hendrix - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback Andrew Hendrix expressed that his recruitment could end in the near future and revealed his top schools during a chat with affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com.

He said, "Definitely I will decide sooner rather than later. I have my list set, so I don't need to take official visits. I have four or five schools in the running."

"(Ohio State and Notre Dame) are definitely two schools in the final group. I think there will be a couple other schools in there too."

When asked what other programs could be in the mix, Hendrix responded, "Definitely Miami of Florida. Definitely Tennessee. And there are some other schools kind of lingering."

Additionally, the Moeller (Cincinnati) prospect also shared what he's looking for, "There will be a lot of factors, but the three are a good academic school, football wise a school with a lot of tradition, and finally a place I can be happy for four years even without football."

Last season he completed 61-percent of his attempts for 1,700 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Great foresight for such a young man! Though his future seems bright on the gridiron, he realizes that stuff happens, i.e. possibly being part of a losing team, injuries, lack of playing time, etc. All factors that could be discouraging. Realizing that faith, family, relationships, school, etc. are as important, or more important, than football, is very applaudable.

Almost committed to Notre Dame on a recent visit. Enjoyed visit to Ohio State. Going back to ND before commitment.

goes to ND, holds off on committing, comes to Ohio State, says recruitment is going to be over soon, wants to check around (including double checking ND) just to make sure the Ohio State is the place for him... you can spin it either way

Were you recruited to play football? Kids grow up fans of one school, and go to a completely different school. Given no external motivators, it is quite unlikely that the timing of the offer matters. However, an offer is accompanied with repeated calls, coaches' visits, and other recruiting efforts. Given the amount of contact preceeding and succeeding the offer, the timing of the offer is quite likely to influence the student's perception.

Neither school offered Hendrix until Montana was clearly not coming. Both turned to Hendrix about the same time. He was "snubbed" by both if you want to get extreme about it.

It looks like he just like one offer better than the other.

It is likely to influence the student's perception... In some cases. In some, not at all. It really depends on the person. Keep in mind that even before the offer I'm pretty sure Tressel was talking to Hendrix... It's not like contact starts with an offer.

Everything in recruiting is black and white. There are no shades of gray.

...and the contact is still severely limited in the Junior year unless it is initiated by the kid.

If Andrew goes to ND, it has nothing to do with the timing of the offer from tOSU.
