Henry County wide receiver MarKeith Ambles, a candidate to be the state?s top player for 2010, is scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Georgia on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3, 185 Ambles is a transfer from Griffin High School and earned offers from every camp he attended over the summer: Ole Miss, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Auburn.

"I just started talking to Georgia a couple of weeks ago," Ambles said. "I went to a Georgia practice and talked to [Mark Richt]. The Georgia coaches wanted to know why I went to Kentucky camp instead of Georgia camp, and it was because my quarterback [Drew Little] and coach went to Kentucky, and that was my ride.

"Georgia said that the scholarship offer was going to come, and not to worry about it."

Henry County receiver MarKeith Ambles was one of the recruits on-hand for Georgia?s victory over Georgia Southern on Saturday.

"It was nice," the 6-foot-3, 185 pound junior said. "I got to talk to about every Georgia coach except Mark Richt."

Ambles has scholarship offers from seven schools, including Alabama and Tennessee.

He's still hopeful that Georgia will follow suit.

"I wasn't expecting an offer on Saturday, but they'll probably offer me after they see some of my film," Ambles said.

He plans to head to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend.

"I'm going to Florida for the Miami game," said Ambles, who is curious to see if the Gators will offer. "I just started talking to [coaches at Florida] about a week ago."

From the UNC site. Ambles has already been selected for the Army AA game and has offers from nearly everyone. He likes North Carolina a l lot, and would like to make a return visit this summer. He is looking for early PT with a team whose offense fits him.

If we have a shot, this is a no brainer. Top 10 WR in the country by all accounts...I like Tai-ler Jones more to be honest but Ambles is a dangerous threat downfield, with speed to burn.

By Bone...talks about USC dropping his offer...denies that he tried to commit to Florida yesterday and was denied...plans on going to a lot of camps and taking several visits...talked to an OSU coach today and they said they would get back to him about a possible offer.

Ambles is one of the most fluid receivers we have seen over the last few years that is over six feet tall. He is tall, smooth and silky in his movements and he can change directions or move in space, almost effortlessly. He doesn't look like he is running full speed, but he reaches top speed quickly for a player of his size. Lulls defenders to sleep that think he is not moving full speed, when he actually is and goes right by them vertically. Possesses a lean, but muscular build with fairly long arms and quick hands. Explodes off the ball quickly and gets into routes quickly. He can weave and stem defenders and eats up cushion in a hurry. He has smooth hips and can change directions with little-to-no wasted motion, which really aids in his ability to create separation as a route runner and running after the catch. He shows sneaky quickness that you don't think he has and is dangerous in space as a result. Plucks on the move and gets up field immediately after the catch. He has the size and arm length to win jump-ball contests and be a sufficient red zone target. He also has experience in the return game and should only become more of a factor in this area as a senior. He is a versatile player that may see some time at QB this fall because Henry County may need to get the ball into the hands of its best player as much as possible. Overall, he will likely end up being one of the premier pass-catchers in this class.

Volunteers land ESPNU 150 Watch List wide receiver Markeith Ambles

Highly-touted Markeith Ambles (McDonough, Ga./Henry County) has committed to sign with Tennessee's Class of 2010, ESPN's Tom Luginbill reports.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Ambles also considered Alabama, California, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, UCLA and Notre Dame. Among many others were West Virginia, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina and Tulsa.

ESPN's Billy Tucker added, "Ambles is a major get for Tennessee as Kiffin has landed another future game-changer on offense to team up with ESPN's No. 2 running back from 2009, Bryce Brown (Wichita, Kan./East). After closing strong on the trail last year, the Vols' 2010 class was comprised of some quality, particularly on the defensive line, but were missing an upper-tier prospect, until now."

"Having just watched Ambles work out at Florida's Friday Night Lights camp, its hard not be impressed with the physical tools and skill-set he brings to the table as a receiver. His fluidity and athleticism for a taller wideout may be unparalleled in this year's talented receiver class; could make an immediate impact in Knoxville as a redzone player with his jump-ball skills. Aside from his great pass-catching skills, Ambles has plenty of speed to threaten a defense vertically as a route runner and after the catch with ball in his hands. This kid is savvy as well in terms of knowing the position which should only assist his chances of making an immediate impact for Tennessee."

As a junior, Ambles caught 53 passes for 993 yards (18.7 average) and 13 touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff and two punt returns for touchdowns. The Vols now have 13 pledges, including four ESPNU 150 Watch List prospects.
