Your Top 30 Recruits for 2010

Shaun Cody was the heart and soul of Carroll's resurgence at USC.
LSU's DTs dominated the OSU LOS and were the difference in the game. Jean-Francois was the MVP IIRC.
Bama's Terrance Cody was the anchor of a resurgent defense which was 1 game from the NC.
OU's DTs were huge vs Meyer's spread attack. They should've put the game away but UF's D stepped up.

Simple, we are talking top 30 rankings. Not top 100 or top 300.

When it comes to the impact a HS kid will make at the next level, DT's aren't top 30 impact players.

Spartan, would you care to address my last two posts?

On a sidenote, you see RBs & WRs in the top-30 a lot. RBs are a dime a dozen, and it doesn't take a complete prospect to play WR at the college level.

I believe he means true Freshmen at the position.

HS and College are on a WHOLE different level strength wise. These recruits are just KIDS in in HS and have not matured physically enough to complete with the MEN at the college level right away, well for the most part at least. If a kid is 300 lbs in HS, I would be willing to bet he is very unhealthy and it is a lot of bad weight.

Well, well...this is my raging complaint/debate...how important DT's are. DT's are VERY, VERY important. I argue that defense wins championships and it's the interior DL that anchors the defense. If the middle is even "adequate", forget it. This is why I had been so fired up with DT recruiting...they free up LB's if one can demand a double team while the other is still disruptive. If they can plug the middle, it frees the DE's up to blitz, as well at the LB blitz, which takes pressure off the CB's...no other position does all this. You have to be deep also because a fresh rotation is going to wreak havoc, just like our '02 DT's did. Jwins is right, just look at the DT's of all the NC games, they are all studs. With that said, I don't think Chandler is top 30 material. Louis maybe, but at the 22-30 range.

I just don't understand how you have Marcus Lattimore rated so low? The kid is a monster out there, in a pretty tough state! He's strong as an ox and has great vision, I think he's easily a top 10 guy! But these lists are always subjective, and I understand that this is your own opinion.

Some players I took off my original list:

Louis Nix: I dont like his weight issues, and I think he takes plays off now that I've seen more film. Has the potential to be a Top 50 player but needs to step it up.

Jamel Turner: At the moment I think there are more college ready DE's both mentally and physically. Could be an amazing pass rusher, so the potential is there. Hopefully I can toss him back up there by the end of the year.

Austin Hinder/Devin Gardner: Still think these two are the best QB's in their category but I've decided that there is no QB this year worth a Top 30 rating.

Michael Dyer: Honestly I think he is overrated. He is small and doesnt seem to have mind blowing speed, vision, or footwork. His production and tape is great, but I dont think he is a Heisman type potential RB.

Bryant/Anderson/Dunkley: Just dropped lower because I thought there were better players at their position. Still in my Top 100 probably.
