Looks like he runs a lot of routes similar to what the guys at OSU run. Stylistically, he reminds me a lot of Santonio and Robiskie: sure handed, comes back to the ball, makes the first guy miss or makes the guy have to drag him down, great after the catch, finds the ball in traffic, never gives up on a play, solid blocker... a QB's best friend. Certainly looks like a OSU WR to me.

Intriguing prospect, especially since he'd bring something different to the party than what James Louis and Tyrone Williams (if he were to come here) bring. I like this offer.

I know the video shows mostly WR clips, but I thought we were offering as a CB/DB?

And btw, I don't remember Robo ever making anyone miss, Robo really didn't play WR like Holmes.

There will be some huge games this fall involving Big Ten conference schools and arguably the two biggest will be USC at Ohio State on Sept. 12 and Ohio State at Penn State on Nov. 7.
Those two games will mean big recruiting weekends for the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions respectively.

When USC invades Columbus for a prime-time national showdown, many of the top prospects the Buckeyes are recruiting will be in attendance. Most will be on unofficial visits, but at least two Under Armour All-American's, defensive back LaMarcus Joyner (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and defensive back Joshua Shaw (Palmdale, Calif.) will be on official visits to Ohio State.

Wide receiver Kenny Stills (Encinitas, Calif./LaCosta Canyon) will be in State College the weekend of Nov. 7. He will see the Nittany Lions take on the Buckeyes in a game that could go a long way towards determining the 2009 Big Ten champion.

Shaw is simply a very good, natural athlete and skilled two-way prospect currently falling under the radar heading into the spring. He has good height and a longer, leaner frame that should continue to fill out well. Actually plays bigger on film and is a feisty blocker at receiver. What stands out on offense is his big hands and consistency plucking the ball away from his frame. Displays very good concentration and body control tracking the deep ball and adjusting to it in the air. Demonstrates excellent timing, high-point and ball skills. Very good red-zone receiver. Has a consistently fast release off the line helping get behind coverage quickly and warranting a cushion to break off his routes underneath and create separation. May not be the most sharpest or smoothest route runners but is very savvy when it comes to breaking off his routes and finding/settling in the soft spots of zone coverages. Very effective intermediate route runner. Soundly works his way back to the quarterback and creates throwing lanes. Attacks a defensive back's leverage and can effectively beating then on the double move. After the catch he shows good elusiveness and smooth movement skills making defenders miss; cuts well laterally with loose hips. Not very explosive after the catch but his wiry body is deceptively strong and he breaks his fair share of initial contact. On defense, we like his height and ball skills as a deep zone defender. Has the physical tools to develop into a good press corner; excels at rerouting receivers off the line and retaining inside leverage on man-to-man coverages. We like his fluidity in his pedal and transitional quickness breaking underneath and undercutting routes. Has good recovery quickness and good body length to help make up ground. Has a smooth stride and good acceleration but top-end speed may be his only real concern when projecting for the next level. Will need to fill out and polish up fundamentals but his technique on both sides of the ball is very good considering he has not concentrated on one position. Overall expect recruiting to continue heating up for Shaw; he simply makes plays on both sides of ball and the game comes very naturally to him. Has great upside as his body still has a lot of physical development left.

Under Armour All-American defensive back Joshua Shaw (Palmdale, Calif.) says he is strongly considering three Big Ten schools.

"I'm a fan of Big Ten football," Shaw said. "I like the three power house teams, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State."

Shaw has scholarship offers from at least two dozen schools. He has narrowed his list down to the three Big Ten schools as well as USC, UCLA, Washington, LSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. All but the Nittany Lions have offered and Shaw feels that offer will soon be on the way.

Shaw has already scheduled three official visits. He will visit Ohio State the weekend of Sept. 12 when the Buckeyes take on USC. He will make a trip to LSU the weekend of Oct. 10 when the Tigers host Florida. Shaw will make an official visit to Notre Dame the weekend of Oct. 17 when the Irish play USC. "I'll definitely take all five official visits, but I won't take any to West Coast schools," Shaw said. "UCLA, USC and Washington won't get official visits. All the schools are even. If I had to make a decision today it would be like picking out of a hat."

The 6-foot-2 and 180-pound Shaw made 40 solo tackles and intercepted four passes during his junior season.

This offer was a no brainer...I only got to watch the defensive highlights but he is tall, rangy, physical, and a ballhawk. I love how willing he is to go after the ball carrier in the run game and he doesn't panick if he is trailing in coverage, because he makes up ground quickly for the play. I think I counted 5 INT's in the film and he pretty much earned them all. He also is alert is his backpedal and keeps tabs on all receivers around him. Seems like he also understands football. Here is to hoping he loves his visit because he is the kind of Malcolm Jenkins CB we are looking for at OSU.

Great news. Sounds like he's legitimately open to leaving California. We could definitely use a tall corner in this class.

This is the big thing that tells me he should be on defense. He's already excellent at keying the run and acting as the force player. His physicality is clearly there and he's had great coaching, judging by his form tackling.

Farrell has nothing but glowing remarks for Shaw and compares him to Justin Turner (save the academics jokes for another thread), meaning he could be a special talent at the next level at either corner or safety.
